As we enter the final weeks of the fall semester, motivation is at an all time low and it can be hard to finish strong. Knowing that Thanksgiving, "Dead Week," and Christmas break are right around the corner can make it hard to wake up for that 8 a.m. or complete that homework assignment. Well, here are a few tips to help you make it through the next few weeks as painlessly as possible.

1. Find Time to Relax

As finals week approaches it can be easy to stress out about making good enough grades, which takes a toll on your body. We try to stay up for days at a time cramming as much information into our heads as possible. It's important to kick back and watch some Netflix or take a nap in order to relieve stress. So go ahead and watch that next episode; you deserve it!

2. Eat, Eat, Eat!

I know that when I'm busy I can completely forget to eat entire meals, but that's not a good habit to have. Now, I'm not saying you should eat so much that you gain 20 pounds during dead week, but food provides us with energy to be more effective for school activities. It is always okay to make time to eat, even if you have to make it fast!

3. TEAM WORK

Some people prefer to study alone, I can be that way sometimes, but studying with friends can break up the monotony of studying on your own in Gorgas or your bedroom. This is also a good way to make a difficult exam easier by combining notes and perspectives. Plus, it can be a good way to meet classmates you may have never talked to before!

4. Keep Your Eye on the Prize

Did you do poorly on that final exam? Get dumped by you significant other? Well fortunately for you, the Holiday season is here to cheer you up! No matter how rough school can be, a whole month of relaxation and celebration is almost here. It is important to stay focused on the end goal and making it through the semester. There's always next semester to do better...

5. Treat Yo Self

In the words of Tom Haverford, Treat Yo Self!! This might be the most important tip of all. To help keep yourself as stress free as possible you should reward yourself. Made an A on an exam? Buy yourself a nice, big meal to celebrate. You've made it this far in the semester, you definitely deserve a few treats regardless of what your bank account might say.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
