Standing between you and several weeks of glorious and relaxing Winter Break are finals.
We all know those daunting exams/papers/projects are the culmination of months of work. In some instances, they're a breeze or a piece of cake or some other euphemism that should not be used to describe finals. In others, they are the reason your eyes are bloodshot from exhaustion and why the coffee industry does a small jig about its profit increase.
By the time you receive your diploma, you'll likely have gone through eight weeks of finals. You'll make it, but in the meantime, you just might become one of the five different types of people we see in the library during finals week.
The Coffee Addict
The Dread Head
Sometimes all dread heads can do to make it through the week is wrap themselves in the softest, most comfortable clothes they have and shuffle on over to the library. Nights are short. Sanity is dwindling. Most of their communication has just become a long "uuuuugggghhhhhhhhhh." All they really, truly need is to be wrapped up in a comforter. Yet, here they are, surrounded by notes and study guides (which do not make that great a blanket, by the way.)
Mr. or Ms. Efficiency
The equivalent of Mr. or Ms. Efficiency is basically the sound of cracking knuckles. They light fires with how fast their pen can move on paper. For them, maybe it's Maybelline, or maybe they're already a front-runner for being named an Outstanding Senior as a freshman.
The Lucky One
No, this is not a romantic Nicholas Sparks book that was eventually made into a movie starring Mr. Easy on the Eyes himself, Zac Efron. The Lucky Ones are those few students who somehow manage to slide by without having to take a final at all. The rest of us will be over here in the library, pretending there's something in our eyes and we're not crying. The Squad
Sometimes, the easiest motivators are friends sitting right next to you. When neck-deep in finals week, the squad can usually come through to make sure you stay right on track to get those As. So, when your find yourself unable to focus on studying for the LSAT (or geology exam) and there's a group of shirtless hotties distracting you (or the show you're dying to binge on Netflix), grab your friends and squad up in the library.
