If you're a girl, I bet you've heard someone of the opposite sex say, "Gosh, girls are so hard to figure out!" and probably wondered what they were talking about. I know I used to think that we weren't that different from boys – but the older I've gotten, the more I start to realize exactly just how different our lives can be.
To help others understand all the weird things girls do, I made a list of the top five peculiar things girls celebrate. (Warning: Some of these might fit into the "Too Much Information" column.)
1. Knowing exactly when our periods are coming
No, this doesn't mean that we are happy our periods are coming, because being on your period causes unbearable pain and other disgusting side effects; however, it definitely does help to know the exact day when we will start. When we do not know, there is a 60 percent chance that we could start in a place without the proper feminine products and then end up with really really embarrassing spots on our clothes. When that happens, our favorite pants are ruined and we do not have anything to stop it or a change of clothes to make the scene better. So as you can see, knowing is great.
2. Shaving our legs without cutting ourselves or missing a spot.
How hard would it be to make sure your legs feel like a baby's bottom every single day? Hard, right? What happens if you're in a hurry and you don't have time? Yep, pants day it is. Shaving is such a big, time consuming task; hence, girls participate in No Shave November. But when we get the time to shave and we step out of the steamy shower and double check our legs, seeing that we indeed got everything and they are soft, we feel accomplished. We finally get to wear that new dress that has been hanging in our closet for over a week now!
I am that person that goes around to everyone shouting, "Touch my leg! I actually shaved! Feel how soft!"
So my advice to you is: Feel my leg! I put a lot of hard work into it!
3. Having a good hair day.
Bed head is real. This then prompts girls to either shower or wear a bun. But sometimes throwing your hair into a messy bun doesn't even work. I have even had times where it has taken me seven tries to get my hair into a bun and it is still not perfect. So when we wake up and our hair actually cooperates, we feel like we finally won! Personally, I do a victory dance. So if a girl is ever late to an event and you don't think her hair looks good, just do not say anything. Chances are, she tried everything under the sun to make her hair look good and she just couldn't get it to work.
4. Getting way too excited to drive by ourselves.
I know that when I am in the car by myself I act like a total fool. I hardcore jam to my favorite stations and songs as they come on the radio. When I am at stoplights, people look at me like I am crazy. Well, guess what? I am crazy! We are crazy! When we get the chance to let loose and dance our hearts out, we take it. It is a chance for us to be ourselves and not be expected to act strong and not too emotional. Girls always have a lot going on. Our minds are constantly moving from one topic to the next. So don't judge when you see a girl jamming by herself in the car; that is most likely going to be the best part of her day!
5.Getting the chance to dress up.
It is the best feeling in the world to take off your work clothes, let your hair down, and go crazy with your makeup. Not every girl gets to do this every day. It makes us feel special and beautiful to know that we get a chance to feel like a princess, even if it's only for a weekly date night. So take your girl on a date, because she will love the chance to make herself beautiful for you!
This is a list of only five peculiar things girls celebrate, and I know there are a ton more. We girls are very unique creatures that roam this beautiful land we call Earth. We love too hard and we dance too hard, but most of all, we love being ourselves. So girls, take every chance you get to celebrate the little things. They will indeed make you feel better about yourself. Do not ever let anyone judge you for who you are. Love yourself and know that is is okay to throw a 10-second dance party when things finally go your way!
