Los Angeles, California, is known for its tourist attractions, celebrity status and perfect weather. Residents and visitors always have something to do any time of the day, and the city caters to any interest. Los Angeles is home to many outdoor activity parks, professional athletic teams, concert venues, nightlife scenes and amusement parks.
This spring break, I went to Los Angeles for the third time with my best friend Lara and her mom, Leah. We only went for three days, but we were able to fit the five must-do things you have to do when visiting Los Angeles.
1. Runyon Canyon
You must do a trail. Even if you aren't a fitness guru, it's OK. There are other trails other than Runyon Canyon, but that is the most popular trail of the area. Unfortunately, it closed April 1, and will not open back up until the end of July because of pipe reconstruction, but we luckily got to go the day before. We went early in the morning and it was cold. Very pretty view, but definitely chilly.
2. Live Television Taping
Going to a live television taping is a definite must! It is so much fun and interactive. We went to the Late Late Show with James Corden and had an absolute blast. Ashton Kutcher, Danny Masterson and Thierry Henry were guest stars on the show on the day we went. Most of the live taping tickets, if not all, are free. You just have to request them. I requested ours from 1iota and they are so helpful and do a lot of live taping show tickets.
3. Universal Studios
I'm a baby when it comes to roller coasters, but Universal Studios is the best! The rides are not scary at all. They are fun and totally worth the wait. This activity takes the majority of your day, if not your entire day, so I wouldn't plan anything else for the day you go to Universal. Also, Universal has a ton of shopping and eating before you get into the actual park, so keep that in mind. The most important part about Universal Studios, though, is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! It does not technically open until April 7th, but they have been opening it early on certain days, so we got to go! (The butterbeer is so good.)
4. Santa Monica Pier
Everyone has heard of the ferris wheel at the Santa Monica Pier. The idea of a roller coaster in a pier scared me at first, but I got over it and rode it twice. On the pier are so many food joints and souvenir shops that make it a great atmosphere. It is so beautiful to be on the ferris wheel and look out onto the Pacific Ocean and see the mountains in the background.
5. Pacific Coast Highway
The Pacific Coast Highway showcases the beauty of when land meets sea. It is just stunning. We did not travel all the way up and down the PCH, but we did go for a little drive. The views are beautiful and I would recommend it to anyone.
Visiting Los Angeles is something you must do at some point in your life. I recommend doing it while you are young and can do the fun and adventurous things, but it is better late than never.
