Life can sometimes seem chaotic. Whether its from stress at work, stress with friends or family, or even personal conflicts with yourself, sometimes we are all in need of an escape. Traveling to places you have never been before is a great way to escape from the pressures in your day to day life and find that much needed calm in the storm. Nothing brings you more serenity than finding your happy place, whether it's right next door to you or halfway across the Earth. The world has so much to offer, and these are some places in no particular order where I recommend you travel to if you ever have the opportunity.

1. Prague, Czech Republic

Prague is a beautiful city that is big enough to keep you busy with historical landmarks and amazing restaurants, but also small enough that you don't get overwhelmed by a massive urban area and you get a more small-town feel. Built right on the Vltava River, Prague is very scenic and a comfortable place to experience a new culture and fall in love with a new city.

2. Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona is a beautiful Spanish city with so much art and culture, and is right on the beach! So if you want a vacation spot where you can lay out in the sun all day OR explore a vast city with many architectural wonders, than Barcelona is the place for you!

3. Alaska, USA

It's hard to pinpoint one place in Alaska to plan a trip around, because there are so many breathtaking spots to visit! From a cruise around the Kenai Peninsula, to hiking in the Denali National Park, to the small city of Anchorage, Alaska has so much to offer and is the perfect escape from the typical hustle and bustle of a city to a quiet and mountainous oasis.

4. Maui, Hawaii, USA

Another gem in the United States is the beautiful island of Maui in Hawaii. Although it can be a hike to get to, it is definitely worth the trek. Whether you stay at a resort on the beach for most of your stay, or go out and explore the hidden gems like the tow of Lahaina or the Road to Hana, there are plenty of ways to keep yourself busy while remaining extremely relaxed and at peace.

5. Italy

Italy is another one of those places where it's impossible to pick just one place to go! So many cities and towns are worth the visit. Of course, Rome is an amazing city to see if you are looking for a city with endless activity and history. If you are looking for an incredible destination on the beach where you can soak up the sun, then you can visit either Positano on the Amalfi Coast in the south of Italy, or San Fruttuoso and Camogli in the north-western coast! In Italy the possibilities are endless, so anywhere you go will be a trip worth wile.

6. Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA

I may be a little bias because I grew up spending my childhood summers in Falmouth, but I do agree that Falmouth, along with the rest of Cape Cod, is a beautiful spot that everyone must see! Falmouth Center is a fun place to shop around in town, and Woods Hole is a section of Falmouth that also has many quaint shops and restaurants! But Falmouth is also home to some of the most beautiful beaches including Old Silver Beach and Menauhant Beach! So whether you are a Massachusetts resident or not, Cape Cod is a great place to visit if you are looking for something relaxing and low-key.

7. Providenciales, Turks and Caicos

Turks and Caicos is a beautiful island that is perfect for a typical tropical getaway! With the average temperatures ranging from 80-84 degrees fahrenheit, it's safe to say you will always feel like you are in paradise. The locals are so friendly and and are always willing to show you the best places. Taking a boat trip to the remote island of Little Water Cay, also known by tourists as Iguana Island, is a great way to see some of the hidden gems that the beautiful island has to offer.

8. Geneva, Switzerland

Last but certainly not least, Geneva is a small city in Switzerland that is home to the world's tallest water fountain, Jet D'Eau. It is a diverse city that has a mix of both modern and ancient architecture, and it is the perfect location because it is so close to many activities including skiing, hiking, or boating in Lake Geneva. This city is the perfect place for a well rounded trip with so much to see and do.

So what's the moral of this article? Get out there and explore! There are so many places worth seeing and you never know what you may discover!

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
