A hilarious comedian, an iconic talkshow host, a leading figure in the LGBTQ community, Ellen DeGeneres is as close to being everyone's "life goals" as it gets. Bringing laughter and hope to people all over the world, Ellen is a constant reminder of the simpler things in life we could all use a little more of.

1. Laugh more:

Ellen is the true epitome of the old saying "laughter is the best medicine." Whether it be dancing and singing with adorable Kai or hearing the heartwarming story of cancer survivor Talia, she always finds a way to intertwine humor, bringing a smile to everyone's face!

2. Give often:

In addition to supporting 45 renowned charities and foundations, Ellen makes a personal effort to give back to heroic teachers, veterans, and notable community members. She is a firm believer that acts of kindness shouldn't go unnoticed.

3. Be yourself and own it:

As one of the first openly gay celebrities in Hollywood, Ellen emphasizes the importance of not only accepting who you are, but proudly being it. Leading by example, she encourages everyone from toddlers to grannies to be confident and keep it real.

4. Just dance:

Starting every show with pumping music, Ellen makes a comfortable atmosphere for everyone to shake what their momma gave them. While some move like So You Think You Can Dance stars and others like awkward dads at barbecues, nobody cares and everybody has a good time. How great would it be if we began our jobs and classes with dance parties?

5. Be kind to one another:

Anyone who watches Ellen knows this is her life motto! At the end of every show, she encourages everyone to be kind to one another. That's as simple as it gets. Love more, hate less and embrace the DeGeneres, ladies and gentlemen!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
