Top 10 Modern Holiday Movies

My favorite thing about the holidays besides all the lights and Christmas decorations is definitely the movies. There's nothing I love more than sitting on my couch over winter break and watching endless Christmas movies. Here are five of my favorite holiday movies I'm looking forward to watching this season:

1. A Charlie Brown Christmas

All the Charlie Brown holiday specials are my favorite, but the Christmas special will always be the best one out of them all. This one is so cute and is all about Charlie Brown and how he is depressed during this holiday season. He doesn't understand what Christmas is all about and thought the movie Linus and his friends try to explain what the meaning of Christmas.

2. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

This one is a classic, definitely one of my favorites. It's a hilarious family movie, The Griswold's are just trying to have a "good old-fashioned family Christmas". This movie follows the Griswold's and all their crazy family members in their pursuit to a good Christmas, through the bickering at the dinner table, Clark not getting his Christmas bonus, in the end they realize that they had a good Christmas after all.

3. The Polar Express

This movie is also a family friendly Christmas movie, it follows a boy, Billy who gets on this magical train called the "Polar Express" that takes them to the North Pole to see Santa Clause. On this journey, Billy meets a bunch of kids and some of them leave the train and try to make it back in time to meet Santa Clause.

4. Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer

This is one of my favorites as well, I really like old Christmas movies, and this is one of the originals. A snowman narrates the story of Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer. Rudolph's father is ashamed of his son's nose so they cover it up so that Rudolph can participate in the reindeer games. Rudolph runs in the woods and meets up with Hermey and they both find out that they're unique. The story follows the, now grown up Rudolph in saving his parents and Clarice from the Abominable Snowman.

5. Elf

Elf is always a favorite for everyone, Will Ferrell, who plays Buddy the Elf, lives at the North Pole, but is on a mission to find his dad. When Buddy finds his dad, his dad is not convinced that this "man" is his child. Buddy spends a lot of time in the "real world" and finds out a lot of things about it, he also falls for a girl that he "works" with. Buddy also tries to convince everyone that Santa Clause is in fact real and tries to convince everyone that his slay won't move unless people believe.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
