5 Ways to Stay Healthy During the School Year

In This Article:

Dear friends,

Hope you all are healthy and feeling well. It's fall, which means people are spreading germs and that leads to people getting sick. I feel under the weather currently, but I don't know if I am actually sick. Either way, getting ill is not fun. ESPECIALLY when you are a college student and have a lot of work to do.

Today I would like to share my top 5 tips on how to stay healthy during this time of year. Some people may not agree with me, or some people may have more tips. If that's the case, feel free to share! Now let's dive right into this.

1. DRINK WATER!!!

Drinking water is the most important part of staying healthy. You can't go three days without drinking water. I think you're supposed to have 8 cups a day or something? Regardless, it is crucial to keep yourself hydrated every single day. It takes two seconds to grab a water bottle or fill up a glass from your cabinet. If you notice that you're feeling light-headed or if it is super hot like it has been for the past 4 months, go drink some water. Hydrate or diedrate my friends.

2. Eat Healthier and Grab an Apple

Eating healthy is also very important when it comes to not getting sick. Whether you eat a lot of fruit, vegetables, or protein, that's good! Yes it is okay to snack here and there, but if you are getting sick you should try a bowl of soup or an apple! Having a healthy diet isn't easy, but it's worth it to have a healthy immune system. Remember: An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

3. Go to Bed at a REASONABLE Time

Sleep is HUGE when it comes to staying healthy. Rest helps your body recharge your immune system. If you don't get rest, you're more vulnerable to getting sick. I understand if you have exams and work to do and study for, but getting rest is more important than cramming your brain with random information at 1 AM in the morning. Take naps and go to bed early! Shouldn't be that hard. Who doesn't like to sleep?

4. Make a Doctor's Appointment

You know those people called doctors? Yeah they help you stay healthy. If you're at the point where you think you need an antibiotic, and your Day-Quil ain't doing the job, you should go see a doctor. Yes it takes time and money, but it's worth it in the end when their medicine gets you better in 3 days versus your medicine at home that has no effect on your immune system. Go see a doctor. They aren't THAT scary.

5. Make Healthy Choices

Overall, it is important to make healthy decisions. If you're feeling sick, don't go to that party that everyone is raving about. Stay in the night and get better! Going out to do stuff and pushing your body to do things it isn't capable of is not healthy for your body. Healthy decisions are the BEST decisions.

Overall, just don't get yourself sick. If you do, don't go spreading it around. It isn't fair to you or anyone else. Make smart choices and stay healthy. Whether it's allergy season or flu season, it's best to do what you can to stay in a healthy state both mentally and physically.

I hope you all enjoyed this article. I'll see you guys next week with a new topic of discussion. Enjoy your week!

Your Friend,

Al

Creating your schedule for the upcoming semester can be an exciting process. You have the control to decide if you want to have class two-days a week or five-days a week. You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
