Halloween is that time of the year when children young and old get to dress up as whatever they want for free candy. For the older children, such as college students can be a different experience than trick or treating around the suburbs. In any given campus life; Halloween is the opportunity to socialize with others and to obviously show up to any social event or party with an awesome costume. For every college Halloween event, there are those particular costumes that have always stood out from the crowd. These are the 5 types of costumes you'll see in college.
1. The Young at Heart
As children, we were in love with being able to dress up and get free candy for it for Halloween while any other day could get us in trouble. For most girls, there were Disney princesses in the suburbs or even witches and vampires. While the boys dressed as their favorite superheroes from fiction and real life, and several years later we still see many college students embrace their childhood loves through their costumes.
2.The Squad Goal
While you're enjoying the Halloween party with your group of friends, you suddenly see a group of Minions entering the party fashionably late and got all the attention as your friends wished they were like those Minions. Whether it is a group of Minions or even characters from the Mario series, matching costumes are literal squad goals and brings out the life into the party!
3.The Pop Culture Costume
Whatever the year it is, pop culture references will always be the popular costumes you'll see. Previous years have brought us many Heisenbergs and prisoners, this year can bring an a variety of Elevens and Dog Filters.Especially in the crazy year that is 2016, it's a guaranteed that you'll see at least 5 Donald Trumps and about 15 Harambes in a single Halloween party. Let's not forget about the countless Harley Quinns you'll come across on your way to that party!
4.The Minimalist
For those last minute costumes, people would often find the simplest costumes with a whole lot of meaning! Not that there's anything bad with little effort into costumes, the enjoyment of having a costume is the creativity put into it. Whether it's a costume of a pun or wore a cute dress with a pair of animal ears, ROCK IT!
5.No Costume
Of course they're be that one guy in the party that doesn't have a costume who just wants some free food. It's understandable especially for us broke college students who track down opportunities to hoard free anything! CANDY! FOOD! WI-FI! Additionally sometimes costumes take a long time to not only put on, but it'll get about 5 times harder to take off from the exhaustion after partying!
Whether you bring out an accurate costume of Alexander Hamilton or dress up as a Sims character, the best part of Halloween in college is having fun. Before adulting into the real world, it wouldn't hurt to show off creativity skills that can date back to your childhood at least once a year!
