5 Great Places To Eat In The Big Apple
GenHERation

New York City is a wonderful place to visit. The largest city in the United States, New York is a melting pot that never grows old. You walk around the corner and an entirely different world is found, making the adventure that is New York never-ending.

One of my favorite aspects of New York City is certainly its food. For me, of course, I like to keep it vegan, and there is certainly no lack of options for me in The Big Apple. Here are five great options for tasty vegan food (not lettuce) in the country's largest city.

1. Chipotle

Although not unique to New York, Chipotle is a great option for anybody who wants to eat a relatively cheap meal that is on the healthier side. With guacamole, salsa, vegetables, rice, beans, and sofritas (seasoned tofu), this place is a vegan paradise. Most people can agree, vegans and non-vegans alike, that Chipotle really is one of the safer options when traveling. It's a restaurant we all know will satisfy at a price that won't burn a hole through your pocket.

2. VLife NYC

This is a quaint, 100 percent vegan restaurant in the heart of New York. It is a takeout-style eatery, but there are a few tables for people who want to escape the hustle and bustle of New York for a few minutes. The menu is filled with vegan burgers, salads, wraps, and drinks as well as desserts. The food comes out quickly, is very simple, and tastes decadent!

3. Beyond Sushi

This is another takeout-style eatery with a few seats for those who want more of a dining experience. Before coming here, I had only tried a couple different kinds of sushi, so I was hesitant. To my surprise, this is the best sushi I have ever tasted! With all the different flavors in each sushi roll, it's like a party in your mouth! To top it off, it's fairly inexpensive and looks absolutely stunning when served to you!

4. Terri

Terri is a fast food vegan option in The City that offers some pretty healthy options for vegan food! You can find everything from "pulled pork" to "tuna melts." When I first walked into this restaurant, I looked at the menu and was shocked that "pork" and "fish" were on the menu, and walked out thinking I had stumbled upon the wrong restaurant. Although everything is vegan, the menu looks like that of an omnivorous restaurant (and the food tastes quite like the animal product counterparts as well).

5. Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream

Last, but certainly not least, Van Leeuwen is a charming ice cream shop on 7th Street. It has a large selection of vegan ice cream and vegan toppings in addition to its classic flavors. The vegan options are very creamy (since most are made with coconut or other nuts) and the atmosphere is that of a romance movie. Definitely check this place out if you are in the area!

If you ever get to NYC, definitely try one of the places I mentioned. If none of the above restaurants appeal to you, there are hundreds more vegan and vegetarian options to choose from in NYC alone.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
