Although the leaves are just beginning to show tinges of orange and the sun is still blazing in Southern California, we are all beginning to embrace the autumnal spirit, whether it be pulling out favorite cozy sweaters or heading to Starbucks for a delicious Pumpkin Spice Latte. October is the perfect time to experiment with some new, and old, fall trends, activities, and recipes. Every year, I like to find new inspiration by looking at fall fashion, foods, and fun! So, I have a few ideas to share with you.
1. Experience fall through fashion.
If you are looking for something cozy and comfortable to wear, flannels are always a great staple fall piece. Flannels look good tucked into jeans, tied around the waist, draped over the shoulders--basically, you can't go wrong. And anything looks good paired with some ankle boots to help you transition into the cooler months. If you're looking to go more bold, try velvet anything. Literally, you can find velvet on jackets, shirts, pants, shoes--it's one of the biggest fashion trends for Fall 2016 and has definitely hit the runway this season.
2. Go to a pumpkin patch.
I can't think of a better way to kick off fall than going to a pumpkin patch and picking out a few pumpkins. It's super fun and super easy.

One of my favorite ways to decorate a pumpkin is to paint it white, pick up some fallen leaves outside, glue them on, and sprinkle on glitter. It makes for lovely room decor or small center pieces to spice up the dining room table.
3. Buy a candle.
Or make one. Candles are one of the best ways to embrace fall, because it's an easy way to warm up your home with scents of cinnamon, vanilla, or wood.
If you decide to make one, one of my favorite things to do is mix 3 tablespoons of coconut oil, 3 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, and put it in a wax burner. Definitely one of my favorite Pinterest finds.
4. Autumn is a wonderful time to spend time with friends and family.
If you are looking for some fun activities, I always recommend corn mazes or gathering by the fire to share spooky stories and watch a horror movie. You can never go wrong with A Nightmare Before Christmas. Classic.
5. Try a new recipe! Here are a few of my new favorites:
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies
Apple Pie in a Cup (Makes for an easy and delicious snack!)
And, if you're like me, maybe you've already stared listening to your Christmas playlist.
