During the summer I have a great opportunity to work with the kids in my community through the YMCA. Every week is themed, and thanks to the fact that 4th of July is coming up, I've gotten to look at a number of awesome Independence Day crafts for the kiddos! Here are five that really stuck out to me, and maybe (thanks to this article) you'll be able to make a couple for yourself, too!
1. Patriotic Cup Craft
This one is so easy and affordable! All you need are some festive streamers, a blue solo cup, and star stickers, and there you go. Plus, it's able to go up right outside for everyone to see, and there's no better sense of pride than knowing everyone can see what you made.
2. Lady Liberty Hat
This is one of my personal favorites, and oh so simple. Just cut out the appropriate colors for the hat and decorate however you wish with some markers and stickers. It makes a great addition to any outfit when traveling out to see some fireworks.
3. Fireworks Painting
This is one that makes a great recycle project. Just use a couple of those toilet paper rolls you knew you were going to throw out, and now you have an awesome array of fireworks that are able to stay inside the house.
4. Cartons of America
I'm all about reduce, reuse and recycle, so this craft was the perfect one for me in regard to that motto. A great craft, with a great lesson.
5. Parade Wands
We don't want the people in the parades to be the ones that have all the fun! Let's get the little ones on the sidelines something to wave as well. It'll make them feel like they play a part, too, and who doesn't love a good wand?
The Fourth of July is a great time for our country to get together and celebrate how great we are as a family and nation, and celebrate those who were able to get us there. What better way to get the kids ready to celebrate than with these fun, little trinkets? I know I'll be sporting my Lady Liberty hat to the fireworks!
