Finals week is coming up, and I know everyone is as excited as I am about it. It's a special time for joy, cheer, excitement, pain, and suffering. Yes, this week may make you cry not tears of joy, but we can all get through this together. To help everyone that is going to be going through this painful time, here is a list of the emotional phases we all go through during finals weeks as told by the "Parks and Recreation" cast. This list may be exactly what you need in order to procrastinate even more than you already have, so yes, I know, you're very welcome.
1. Procrastination
Though, technically, procrastination is not an emotion, I'm almost 100 percent positive students have felt it on an emotional or spiritual level. Procrastination is the spirit animal of the average student, a probably well-proven fact by very scientific people. Sometimes, we even convince ourselves we don't even need to study all that much. Mom -- you don't know my life. I know when I need to study. I'm an adult.
Fast forward, it's three in the morning and your finals are the very next day, yet here you are, still studying. Silent tears of pain are rolling down your face, and your pillow is sweetly whispering your name.
2. Stress
As it happens, students themselves generally live in a constant state of stress. Entering final week, though, we discover a whole other level we never knew existed. Once you finally start studying, you realize the full amount of damage your procrastination has actually done. Sometimes, you can even reach that level of stress where you stare into space for hours on end and just think about how much you have to do. Stress is a joyful, cherished thing.
3. Anger
Sometimes, there comes a stage in finals where you're just pissed. You have no one to blame but yourself, but you still try your best to blame everyone around you: your professors for not teaching the material well enough, your friends for distracting you, and maybe even your mom for sending you to school. Mother, must you insist I get an education?
4. Deliriously Tired
Maybe this is just me, but at some point in my finals week, I just reach the point of beyond tired. I hit that wall of exhaustion about two days ago, yet I'm still going, and then everything just starts to gets weird. Everything is just oddly funny, like, "Hey, you have an eight-age paper due in two hours," and you're just like "Niiiiiiiiice." Nothing can even phase you anymore. You've seen it all.
5. Relief
Ah, the best stage, RELIEF. You're finally done with finals, it's over and you survived. You survived the tears, the anger, and the exhaustion, and now it's time to........
We can all get through this together. Bless you, and happy finals week to all!
