I don't know about you, but when the new year rolls around I always find myself trying to make the most complicated New Year's resolutions. More often than not, I fail miserably at trying to keep my resolutions because they're too specific or too complicated. And it makes me feel bad. So this year, I've decided to come up with a list of relatively simple New Years resolutions that, despite how easy they may seem, can have all the difference in the quality of life.

1. Dance more

Life is too short to take yourself too seriously. Whether you're cleaning your room, cooking dinner, or even at the mall, when you feel an urge to dance, just do it! It doesn't matter if you're any good or not. It's just about being silly when life may seem hard.

2. Spend less time on your phone

This one may seem difficult to most people, but it's not like you have to get rid of your phone altogether. Just limiting your social media use can have a huge change on yourself. And you can go from there.

3. Drink more water

You don't have to turn into a health nut cold turkey. If you're wanting to get healthier for the new year, start by drinking more water. Most of us don't get enough water, which effects many aspects of our body and mood. If you don't think you're getting enough water, you're probably not. So drink up!

4. Talk less about yourself

Ask others about themselves more. Pay attention to what people say. Learn about their lives, and care about their differences. Maybe you'll learn a thing or two.

5. Be more kind

A lot of us try and tell ourselves we'll volunteer more, or stop cussing altogether. To those who can manage to do those things, congratulations! But for the rest of us, taking small steps is more helpful. Start by simply being more kind. Open doors for people. Smile at strangers. Help your mom. Try and be a better person.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
