4 Community Service Organizations To Check Out in Oklahoma

Reaching out to your community is always needed and appreciated. It is one of the most uplifting feelings to do your part in helping your community; you will never truly know how great of an impact it can have on those in need. For one of my classes, I did community service for a few organizations in Oklahoma, and it was a wonderful experience.

Here are a four community service organizations to check out in Oklahoma:

Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma: The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is the largest private domestic hunger-relief charity in the state, and is a member of Feeding America network of Food Banks. It provides enough food to feed more than 126,000 hungry Oklahomans every week, 37 percent of which are children.

Pets and People Humane Society: Pets and People has many volunteer opportunities available, including: walking dogs, cleaning cages, and feeding the animals. There are morning and evening hours available for volunteers, and the doors are always open for more help!

Also check out Central Oklahoma Humane Society: http://www.okhumane.org/

Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity: The focus for Habitat for Humanity is to provide safe, and affordable housing for the community. As a volunteer you would participate in building and renovating houses for those in need.

Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma County: The Boys and Girls Club provides a safe place for kids, along with multiple programs and activities available. As a volunteer you can help coach a sport, tutor, teach a class, and so much more!

It is amazing how taking a small amount of time to volunteer in your community can not only impact the life of a person or animal in need, but your life as well. I encourage you to branch out into your community and spend some time volunteering. Your life will change for the better. :)

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
