5 Things I Would Say To My College Roommate

Roommates can be the best part of college!

5 Things I Would Say To My College Roommate
Megan Hartman

Right now, I'm in my sophomore year at Gardner-Webb and I'd have to say the roommate experience has been one of my favorite parts of college. This year I've been blessed with the perfect roommate! This room is filled with so much love, laughter and Jesus and it's all because of my roommate, Morgan.

1. Thank you for putting up with my weirdness

From thuggin' cat shirts, late night McDonalds runs, random giggle fits, and annoying banana songs, you put up with me in all of my craziness no matter how hard it may be.

2. Thank you for ALWAYS being up for Starbucks

I don't know how we would survive college without spontaneous trips to Starbucks. Whether it be going to study or going to avoid studying, I know every time I ask, you'll always say yes.

3. Thank you for supporting me

My passion for photography takes me to a lot of really fun events, but also some "no-so-fun" events like rainy, freezing cold football games where we don't even win. So glad you still come and support me, even when it's inconvenient.

4. Thank you for pushing me closer and closer to Jesus each day

I love that our room is a place where worship songs can be sung, Jesus can be praised, and life talks can be had. Thanks for being that friend who I can be vulnerable with and for always encouraging me to get in the Word sometimes without even saying anything.

5. Thank you for being you

Last summer was hard when I found out my roommate couldn't return, but God truly knew what He was doing when He sent you. This year has been filled with so many great moments when we went out and did fun things, but also when we stayed in and watched Netflix. You are such an encouragement and I am so blessed to call you my roomie.

Thank you Morgan for being my friend and putting up with me each day. I can't wait for these next two and a half years!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
