I am a lover of classic films, particularly black-and-white ones. There's just something about them that reel me in. I've heard people say old films are better than newer ones but that is just a subjective opinion. Movies were good then and movies are good now. Here are some classic suggestions:
"Psycho" (1960)
My all-time favorite movie. This film has made me enjoy horror films (even if this one isn't the most scary). I would consider it a psychological thriller that people should definitely watch.
"The Bad Seed" (1956)
Another wonderful horror thriller movie dated back to the 1950s. I had to watch this movie for a class in high school and I'm glad I did. The actress who plays the main character did a wonderful job with her role.
"The Shining" (1980)
I promise this is the last horror movie on this list. The classic film is set in Colorado and sees Jack Nicholson play a character trying to get over writer's block, amongst other things. Definitely a must see.
"Planet of the Apes" (1968)
As of writing this article, I watched this film for the first time last night (which sparked my interest in this article). It was a huge feat for the time as makeup and costumes took hours to put on. This film deserves all the credit it has received.
"Mary Poppins" (1964)
I only watched this film recently for the first time as well. This highly memorable movie set a precedent for musicals that continue to this day. Fun fact: Julie Andrews starred in "The Sound of Music" only one year after "Mary Poppins" playing a nanny in both films.
I admit that I'm not the biggest movie person but I still enjoy one from time to time. This list is a great selection to choose from to watch.
