The weather outside is frightful but these books are so delightful. Stay warm this winter with a good book and a cup of tea. Here is a list of books guaranteed to keep you warm all season long. Some are my all time favorites and some are on my winter booklist. All of them are worth the read so check them out:

1. The Book Thief - Markus Zusak

This one is an absolute must. It is one of my favorite books of all time. The story is narrated by death, who is extremely busy at the time. It is 1939 in Nazi Germany and Liesel Meminger’s foster parents are also hosting another guest, a jewish man hidden in the basement. It is a remarkable story about how Liesel finds hope through book she steels and makes a connection with her new roommate through them.

2. The Girl on the Train - Paula Hawkins

Curl up in bed with this one (because you may be to scared to read it anywhere else). It is a psychological thriller about Rachel, a struggling alcoholic. She takes the same commuter train everyday and makes up stories in her head about the people who live in a house she passes. To her they are the perfect couple until she sees something that shocks her. She goes to the police and suddenly she in entangled in the lives of everyone involved. It is a thriller and a mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat till the last page.

3. Hyperbole and a Half - Allie Brosh

I never read comic books, or graphic novels. Usually a picture on more pages than the cover is a turnoff for me. This is the one exception. Grab a cup of hot chocolate and settle in because you will not be able to put this book down. This hilarious book with simple illustrations is a compilation of essays on every topic from dogs and their weird habits, to cake and the inability to resist is, and even the author's plight with depression.

4. A Man Called Ove - Fredrik Backman

Unlikely friendships. We have all had them and we have all read about them. But all others pale in comparison to the one that Fredrik Backman writes about in this wintertime classic. Ove is bitter and everyone knows it. He has a bad temper and it not friendly to any of the neighbors. When a new couple moves in next door and crushes his mailbox with their truck we begin to get an inside look into his life. Beneath his hard exterior he has a sad story to tell. This book pairs perfectly with a snowy morning and the fluffiest blanket you can find.

5. The Mothers - Britt Bennett

When her mother takes her own life Nadia turner is lost. She is rebellious and can’t handle the reality of her late mother. Enter Luke Sheppard, the pastor’s son. At 21, he is four years older than her and his failed football career has reduced him to his job at a local restaurant. They are young and in love but Nadia’s unexpected pregnancy changes everything. The book fast-forwards a bit and we rejoin the couple when they are adults. They are indebted to the choices they made, so long ago, and they still question if they made the right decision. This lyrical novel is impossible to put down so pick it up as soon as possible.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
