1. No Expectations
Where there are expectations, there are possibilities of disappointment. No need to stress over where to make reservations, what kind of flowers to buy, what kind of chocolate to buy (FYI...always go with milk chocolate). There is no pressure to plan out the perfect night, or making sure everything goes as dreamy and romantic as you sought out for.
2. Save Money
Lets face it, Valentine’s Day is completely a Hallmark Holiday. All those little things you spend money on quickly add up: cards, flowers, chocolate, stuffed animals. In reality, a few months later and the card is in the trash, the stuffed animal becomes a new chew toy for the dog, and the flowers are dead. Not to mention the bigger expenses such as dinner at a fancy restaurant and Victoria’s Secret Lingerie. In the long run, your bank account will thank you for not spending money on these frivolous gifts.
3. Alcohol
Rather than a romantic night with a significant other, you can have a romantic night with alcohol. To much advantage, Valentine’s Day falls on a saturday this year, meaning you might as well go out and party with other people who have no one tying them down either. Who knows, after a few glasses of wine you may even meet someone to celebrate the evening with. But if not, have another glass of wine, cuddle the toilet, and forget all your worries.
4. Girls Night
Chicks before dicks anyways right? February 14th is the perfect excuse to get together with your friends to gossip and drink. Whether you have a chill night at home, or hit the town, a night out with the girls never disappointments.
5. No Preparation
No planning ahead for the night translates to saving yourself lots of time, energy, and pain. First of all, no going to gym everyday the week before to get in shape and feel sexy, or to balance out all the chocolate you will be eating. No need to shave your legs. No need to wait four weeks to get a bikini wax. It’s basically a win-win situation.
Ultimately, being single on Valentine’s Day is not the end of the world, as you can see it even has its perks. Do not scramble to find a last minute, lame Valentine when instead you can spend Valentine’s day with the coolest, funniest, hottest person you know, yourself.
