Welcome to Clark University, where are our motto is "Challenge Convention, Change Our World" and we pride ourselves on being a progressive liberal arts college, filled with flannel wearing and L.L. Bean toting students that love claiming the "social justice warrior" title. As great as this university is, some things just don't add up. Some Clarkies aren't afraid to call Clark out on this inconsistencies, and I'll gladly be one of them.

1. Why do we keep renewing our contract with Sodexo – especially when many students have spoken against it?

2. Why did we use a grant worth thousands of dollars for the new building, instead of using grants for more necessary things?

3. Why are we no longer need blind?

4. Why do I know so many people that transferred because disability services weren't accommodating, yet we brag about our services and accommodations?

5.How come we're not able to have mandatory minority sensitivity training for faculty and staff? Or for Week One?

6. How come we still don't have gender-neutral bathrooms in every building when we were promised that would happen by fall 2017?

7. How come we don't have free condoms at health services or in the dorms – never mind free birth control or Plan B?

8. How come they're always trying to take away ASL as an LP course?

9. Why is Traina not shown during campus tours?

10. Why do we pretend we're so progressive when we're so resistant to change?

11. Why do Clark students like to complain but never like to do anything about it?

12. Why do Clark students like to pretend they're so progressive and into activism, yet never actually commit to anything?

13. Why is there such animosity against PC culture?

14. Why does physical plant rarely fulfill your work order requests?

15. Why is the bookstore so expensive?

16. If we're open to the public why do we have a front gate?

17. Why do RAs get in trouble if they haven't written enough people up?

18. Why do the athletes get away with so much?

If any other group on campus made a prospective student sick from too many drugs, or threw racist parties on campus, they'd have serious consequences. Just saying.

19. Why do we act like we're so much better at handling sexual assault than we are?

20. Why can't students' PGP/preferred name be the only name that shows up on a class roster?

21. Why does Clark spend so much money on Gala?

22. And why do we only celebrate international minorities, where’s the celebration for domestic minorities?

23. Why does my mail always get lost, or ripped open with contents missing?

24. Why do we only get half a day to move in (or have to pay extra) when other schools get days if not weeks?

25. What's going to happen to the old financial aid building?

It's a really nice building, okay.

26. Why do we brag about being so connected to the Worcester community when we're slowly pushing people out, and taking over the community?

27. Why do we talk about the shuttle service to the consortium when it doesn't exist?

28. Why does health services give me a note to excuse me from classes that says, "this does not excuse them from missed obligations" on it?

29. Why is the info desk gated when it's closed?

What are you trying to hide back there?

30. Why exactly do I have to sign into Estabrook at night?

31. Why do I have to pay $20 for a new ID if my picture fades?

32. Why is Bamberg even still a professor here?

Ah, the power of tenured.

33. So when are we getting those racial minority professors and counselors we were promised?

34. Why is there a limit on how many times a semester I can go to counseling services?

35. There are surveys for literally everything on campus, but why isn't there one about counseling services?

36. Does Clark really follow the amnesty policy?

37. Why did we spend so much money to change our logo?

We could probably be challenging convention in more cost-efficient ways.

38. Does anyone even know that student council meetings are open to the general Clark community?

39. Why do we have to petition for a fifth course?

40. Why is the environment of Clark changing so drastically – and not exactly in a positive way either?

41. Why do students never want to be involved with the clubs on campus?

42. Why do we only have one LGBT+ club?

43. Why don't you change students financial aid packages when their parents pass away?

44. Why do custodians clean on-campus apartments?

45. Why do we pay our faculty and staff so little?

46. Why don’t we pay our staff during breaks? And why do we then keep them on payroll (making it harder for them to collect unemployment)?

47. Why is Clark so money hungry?

Are we broke?

48. Do we really challenge convention, never mind change our world?

...

And, I'm out!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
