40 Undeniable Signs That Prove You’re From The Hamptons
  1. You go to Goldbergs hungover, see everyone you know, and go and eat it at the beach in your car.
  2. You spent every day during the summer at Cooper’s with the largest group of people before you needed a summer job.
  3. You miss $5 burger nights at Barristers.
  4. You knew all the back roads before that book came out.
  5. You grew up waiting for the day you could go to Boardy Barn.
  6. Wednesdays are the best day of the week because of Publick House Ladies Night.
  7. You didn’t realize how lavish everything was until you got up and left for college
  8. It’s impossible to keep a secret and everyone always knows your business in a matter of hours.
  9. You drink more than a normal person because of the lack of things to do.
  10. You miss it when you’re gone and within a day of being back there’s an eruption of drama that makes you want to leave.
  11. Your best friend has probably kissed the guy you dated in high school and that’s totally normal.
  12. You never experienced a real football game, and basketball really is the only sport we’re good at. And no… your school was NOT good at lacrosse just because you’re from Long Island.
  13. You get so excited when you see Publick House beer or Tate’s cookies outside of Long Island.
  14. You’re used to no streetlights, sidewalks or stoplights.
  15. Majority of your friends live in North Sea #weaintleavin.
  16. 60% of the people you went to high school with will end up back in the same town starting their own family.
  17. It’s a big deal when nothing is going on at night.
  18. You very rarely ever leave your own town.
  19. You went to Camp Hero or the Great Hill Castle at some point during your high school years for a good spook.
  20. You either worked at the beach, Carvel, Sip n Soda or LF.
  21. You never had an extravagant sweet 16 like people upisland.
  22. You’re nothing like someone from upisland and you couldn’t be more glad.
  23. You use the term “upisland” and no one else does.
  24. It’s never “New York City” or “Manhattan” its “The City”.
  25. You will debate whether Paul’s or La Parm is better pizza.
  26. Ted’s easily has the best BEC and you probably walked there everyday after middle school.
  27. You probably had a birthday party at Lynchs Links.
  28. You struggled with finding food after 9pm… even the diner closes early.
  29. You never understood why people got so excited to see the giant duck in Flanders.
  30. The LIRR never runs at the right time during the winter.
  31. You’ve probably been hungover for every Thanksgiving since you learned how to drink. Thanksgiving Eve is a holiday too.
  32. You probably got your first tattoo on the Rez.
  33. No one understands what your saying most of the time because of the lingo (i.e. “piff”, “shot”, “stu”, “OD”, “gas”)
  34. You miss Judith Ann’s toy store.
  35. You can never just have “people over” it always turns into something big.
  36. You’re not fazed by the celebrities anymore and quite honestly would prefer to not see them.
  37. Your first date was probably was to the movies.
  38. Everyday, lunch in high school was a bagel, Doritos and an iced tea. Thank you Cindy.
  39. You spend your money on food and alcohol, because all of the shopping is too far away.
  40. You couldn’t be gladder that you’re not a “cidiot”.
