1) No one cares about your AP scores. It's sad but true.
2) Meeting people from all over the country, and from all over the world, is really cool.
3) Dining halls are not always as good as they were when you toured the school.
4) But right after a test or a 5-hour-long study session, they're like a smorgasbord sent from the Good Lord above.
5) Literally no one is going to tell you you can't have dessert. Or second dessert.
6) No one's going to judge you for that either.
7) Speaking of dessert, college is the time to take your physical fitness in your own hands. Your school has a fitness center: it's up to you to use it.
8) You shouldn't feel obligated to go to the gym because "everyone else is." Trust me, not everyone is going to the gym.
9) Just eat dessert. Your metabolism will never again be like it is now.
10) You can study for seven hours for a test you have the next day and still have no idea what's going on.
11) If you miss class, odds are you're going to miss some important information, or a daily grade, or a quiz...just try not to skip class for no reason.
12) It's good to set goals for yourself; goals like "I'm gonna aim for A's this semester, but if I get a B or two I'll be okay," or "I'm going to hit the gym at least twice a week this year," or "I want to join this many clubs this semester." Goals keep you oriented and on track.
13) Sometimes you're not going to do as well on a test as you thought you would.
14) Sometimes you do much better on a test than you thought you would.
15) Sometimes you get a bad grade, and you've just gotta breathe. You tried your hardest.
16) If you didn't try your hardest, then...well, you've learned your lesson.
17) Your parents love it when you call them. FaceTime is even better.
18) It seems like you're going to have a lot of free time...but you really don't because you just spend it studying, doing homework, or worrying about studying and homework.
19) I've developed a love/hate relationship with procrastination.
20) Some people walk reeeeaallly slow on the sidewalk.
21) Some people walk on the wrong side of the sidewalk.
22) You never really feel prepared for the assignments your professors give you. You kind of just accept the piece of paper with the guidelines for the assignment and sigh and think, "Well, here we go I guess."
23) For those people who shower in community bathrooms: you take showering without shoes on for granted. Like, waaaaay for granted.
24) Air filtration in dorms really doesn't work well. Invest in an air purifier.
25) Things get very messy very fast in a tiny dorm room.
26) There is no room for clutter on your desk because you need that desk space to do homework.
27) You may or may not be best friends with your roommate.
28) You really miss having a space that is your own and is not shared with someone else.
29) The only way you can meet new people is to be bold and to be open.
30) Try something you've always wanted to try.
31) Try something you've always been afraid of trying.
32) Believe it or not, not everyone can be found at a frat party on the weekend. There's so many other things to do.
33) Try to figure out being a student before you pursue a relationship. Give it a semester or two.
34) Keeping in touch with your friends from home really is a blessing. You don't know how good people are until they're gone.
35) You feel like you kind of have to "start over" with friendships: your friends at college don't know how you acted in junior high and even high-school. It's a strange feeling.
36) Don't shut people out at college just because you're scared of losing the friendships you made back home.
37) Football games are actually really fun in the students section.
38) All of your school's traditions suddenly mean the world to you.
39) Everyone that you see on campus is a part of your family now.
40) The time really does fly by (we're already more than halfway through with this semester...ummmm what).
College is a whirlwind of work, responsibility, and memories in the making in which you can only stay sane and grounded with good food (not normally found in the dining halls), great friends, and God.
