40 Thoughts All Girls Have While Packing For College

Ah, the dreaded experience of packing for school. We all love college, but the one thing we can't stand is the packing process. Not only is it stressful, but packing up your whole life and trying to cram everything into the trunk of your car is physically, mentally, and emotionally draining. Here are some thoughts we've all had during this grueling time of packing for college.

1. Okay, time to pack for school...where do I start?

2. Pinterest, help me pack.

3. Definitely should have started packing sooner than a week before I leave...

4. Seriously though, how am I supposed to pack my whole life into bags?

5. "Mom? Can you help me pack?"

6. I'm an adult. I can do this. If I can survive college, I can survive packing for it.

7. Okay, what's the best way to pack all this stuff?

8. Let's make a list of all the things I need to bring.

9. T-shirts, sweatpants, sweatshirts, shorts, jeans, sweaters, socks, shoes, dresses, pants, cardigans...that's just the clothes.

10. This is the one time when having too many clothes is a bad thing.

11. How would the Kardashians pack up all of their clothes? They must have more clothes than even I do.

12. Does this still fit me?

13. Will I really need this?

14. Of course, when I say I won't need it and I don't bring it, there will definitely be a time when I do need it, so I'll just bring it in case.

15. I guess I'll just buy whatever I forget when I get there.

16. How many t-shirts do I need? Am I going to wear them a lot?

17. Let's be real, the only thing I'm going to wear is t-shirts.

18. Don't forget the straightener!

19. When did I even buy this?

20. Oh, there's that shirt I thought I lost...

21. I have no idea when I'm going to wear this, but I'll just bring it.

22. 1 pair of leggings, 2 pairs of leggings.

23. Don't forget the extra contact lenses.

24. 3 pairs of leggings, 4 pairs of leggings.

25. I guess six pairs of socks are enough; I mean, I'll do my laundry once a week right?

26. And one more pair of leggings for good luck.

27. How do I fold clothes again?

28. I'm making improvement, narrowed it down to my favorite 20 sweaters.

29. Is my closet going to be big enough for all of my clothes?

30. Will I need a toothbrush holder? If so, can't forget that.

31. What about shower shoes? Is that still a thing?

32. Is my brain physically capable of remembering all of this?

33. Packing for college is honestly harder than college itself.

34. Is there a service that can just pack all my stuff up for me? I should invent that.

35. Don't forget my wallet, that would be bad.

36. Okay, so I have all of my clothes laid out. Now what?

37. Where do I put all my clothes? Suitcases? Garbage bags?

38. I think I've done my job, now it's time for Mom to put everything in it's place. She's basically a professional packer.

39. All right, clothes are packed. I feel accomplished.

40. Oh, I still need to buy my textbooks...

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
