40 Things We've All Asked Our Parents AFTER Moving Out
Sophia Camaya

We are all now living on our own without our parents; we're becoming adults. Sometimes it hits me that I don't live with my parents anymore. I liked coming home to a home-cooked meal all the time... Eh, maybe I'll find myself a husband now to cook for me.

But anyways, since we have moved out, we tend to ask our parents for things. And we are so lucky that they are there to help us out all the time. But I am sure we can all relate to some of these questions we have most likely asked our parents.

1. Mom, I need an emotional care package.

2. Can I come home for a week?

3. How long do I cook salmon/fish?

4. Why is my smoke detector beeping?

5. Why is my beef stew meat brown the day after I bought it?

6. What's that one recipe I always eat?

7. Can I borrow some money?

8. How many hours is 10:45-1?

9. What's my insurance number?

10. How do you feel about me adopting a new pet?

11. What should I do about this?

12. What are you doing today?

13. Why would my car be making this noise?

14. Did I leave my student ID at home?

15. Are you coming this weekend?

16. Can you buy me groceries while you're here?

17. Can you spot me the dog's dasuquin?

18. Can we go to this movie?

19. Have we been to such-and-such restaurant?

20. Do you know where I could get bottle stopper?

21. What should I get Dad for his birthday?

22. Dad, can you look at my car?

23. Where do I get my car tabs from?

24. Do you claim me for your taxes?

25. What's the Netflix password?

26. What's the password to your Amazon?

27. What's the recipe for the pumpkin bread?

28. How long do I boil the chicken adobo?

29. What's the meaning behind my middle name?

30. Can I take a bunch of leftovers back to Bellingham?

31. Can you help me pick out adult clothes?

32. Is there anything new at the Tidewater Collection?

33. Can you order me a pizza?

34. Do I need to unshell shrimp before cooking it?

35. How would you feel if I stayed in school another two years?

36. Is it bad that I want to decorate for Christmas?

37. Can you help me do my taxes?

38. When is the package coming in the mail?

39. Did you get my birthday card?

40. Did you know that I love you very much for everything you do for me?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
