I will admit it. I am a neat freak and a proud one for that matter! I can't say that this defining quality of mine is random or unexplainable; my mom passed this quality down to me and I am ever so grateful that she did. I not only survive in a clean environment, but thrive. Cleanliness, in whatever shape or form, can immediately transform a space and change the ambiance. Here are a few of my tips on successfully doing so:

1. Toss (and donate!) anything that is creating clutter in your space

If you haven't used something in quite some time, I'd recommend tossing it if it has some wear and tear or donating it to a local charity or shelter if it is in good shape. Another (wo)man's trash is another (wo)man's treasure! Ridding your space of unnecessary items creates a minimalistic and stress-free environment.

2. Give your space a good, deep clean

The only way to truly live in a clean space is to clean it. That's right-pull out the vacuum, the mop, the duster, and get to work! While some of us love to clean (that's you and I, mom), and even find it therapeutic, others don't have even the slightest passion for it. We won't tell if you treat yo' self to a house keeper!

3. Create a space that makes YOU feel calm and relaxed

Whether this space be your bedroom, living room, or even your kitchen; it's your space and you deserve to make the best out of it. Making your space a calm and relaxing environment for yourself is what makes it your space; your personal bubble and oasis to escape.

4. Add decorative pieces that give your space beauty and serenity

My favorites: candles and succulents! I find that each time I light one of the multitudes of candles in my room, my stress level creeps back down. My beautiful succulents slowly grow (luckily, without constant care) and bring the peacefulness of the outdoors back indoors. Find what works best for you and your space; what makes you feel best in your space.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
