With almost twenty casualties in the United States and over eight hundred casualties in Haiti alone, Hurricane Matthew seems to be tangible evidence that Mother Nature can be a cruel force. While relief efforts have proven successful so far, supplies are still limited, and it's the job of those unaffected to help those who are affected. here are many organizations claiming to be providing relief for those affected, but which ones are the best? How much should you donate? What should you donate? Is it best to donate to one organization, or to not put all your eggs in one basket? These are all excellent questions I've encountered, and therefore I have compiled a list of the most trustworthy and productive organizations that have been helping with relief and need your support. Before we get into these organizations, however, it is notable that most organizations share the belief that monetary donations are the best, as they are the most flexible.

With all of the organizations caught only donating a portion of their donations to relief efforts, it's a breath of fresh air to encounter one that not only ensures that 100% of their donations will go to relief efforts, but has also proven it in the past. Known for helping in the fight against poverty, Action against Hunger has been working hard to supply food and water to those affected by Hurricane Matthew. 100% of money donated to Action against Hunger goes directly to the relief efforts in Haiti, specifically dealing with the poverty caused by the storm. In times of natural disaster, it is often difficult for people to access fresh, clean water. Partners in Health, who pledge that 94% of donations go to relief efforts, are helping to solve this problem. You can make a donation here.
