There are many "fun" apps that you can keep on your phone, but not all of them are useful for the best part of college: becoming a full-fledged adult.
Although I may be 100% joking about that last part, I recently downloaded a couple of apps that make me feel as though I own my own house, mow my own lawn, and know exactly what I am doing when I fill out tax forms. Having these 4 apps will turn you into a 40-year-old instantly, but you will not regret feeling extremely responsible.
TinyScan
Although this app may not help you pay your taxes, it is a fantastic tool for sharing notes with your peers. Essentially this app allows you to take pictures of documents and the like and turn them into a PDF file to share with employers, classmates, and friends. Since I am assuming that most of you do not own a personal scanner, this magnificent app saves you a walk to the library and helps you avoid the embarrassment of sending horribly lit pictures of legal documents to your employers. You can get this one for free, but if you plan on turning more than 10 pictures into PDF files, you might want to buy the unlimited app.
WellSpent
I found this little gem of an app on Pinterest and have not regretted it since. WellSpent helps you keep track of your finances but allowing you to create very specific budgets for different activities such as groceries, date night, or sorority t-shirts (Lord knows we all need to budget that spending). Being in college is an expensive time and sometimes it is hard to keep track of your savings for the future. By budgeting your finances with this easily accessible app, you can start saving big bucks for graduate school, weddings, or whatever may come your way post graduation.
CNN
No matter what political persuasion you adhere to, it is time to download a news app on your phone. I am hoping the majority of you already have something like this on your phone, but it is about time we become aware of what is happening around us in the world. The smart phone has turned our generation into self-absorbed human beings that do not know what is happening around them outside of their Twitter feed. I am definitely a part of that group, so I think it is more than necessary to have a basic knowledge of world happenings.
I feel like there is not much to say about this one. The idea of being in the real world, having a real job, and being a contributing member of society is a terrifying yet exciting thought. So soon we'll all be graduating and trying our best to land a job in the field we have worked so hard to master. That's crazy scary! So go ahead and get ahead of the game by building a professional profile that you can manage from your smart phone with the LinkedIn app.
Adulthood is upon us friends. Be prepared.
