The ultimate goal of most people’s life is to be happy. However, it can be hard to achieve that fairytale happiness you dream of when you are not accomplishing the goals you set forth to get you to that happy state. Now, all of us have dreams and goals. The people who you see constantly reaching their goals and making their vision a reality have a formula that works for them and they don’t stray from it. If you are not consistently attaining your goals, it just means that your formula is undeveloped. Luckily, I have four tips that will develop your formula and help you get you to your happy place.
1.Vision Board
Creating a vision board is one of the best ideas that I have ever came across. It is very easy, fun, and fulfilling to make. You are essentially putting your long-term and short-term goals together in pictures. You should have your dream job, dream car, dream college, a picture of a couple kissing during the beach sunset (if you want to have something like that), and of course, your dream place to live should be on there. Not to mention, you should have a quote on there that really means something to you. You can actually find all of the things that I just listed on my personal vision board. Moreover, the most important part of a vision board is putting it somewhere in your house where you will see it every single day, so you will always be reminded of what you’re chasing.
2.Post-It Goals
First step, get a colorful set of post-it notes. Second step, get a sharpie. Third step, write down goals. Well that was pretty straight-forward, wasn’t it? Furthermore, writing your goals on post-it notes will be extremely helpful in achieving them. I recommend getting at least four colors and creating an artistic pattern in your room. You can make short-term goals one color and long-term another. I also put down fun things that I want to do when I get a moment to breathe in my busy life. For example, one goal might say, “Make Presidents list for fall semester” and the goal next to it might say, “Take a road trip to Naples.” The best thing about post-it goals is the feeling you get when you are able to rip one down. When you do rip one down, write the date you accomplished this on the back of it. Lastly, get an old shoe-box to put all of your accomplished goals in; so when you ever think you’re not winning at life, just look in the box and see how far you’ve already come. Post-it notes… post-it notes everywhere!
3.Mentor
Wanting to create your own path in life is great don’t get me wrong, but it is a smart idea to find somebody that is already at where you want to be in life and become their student. Most people don’t know how to go about getting a mentor. However, it is quite simple. All you have to do is ask them if they are willing to be your mentor. There is a pretty good chance that they will agree even if they have never held the role of being a mentor to someone before. If you think about it, people love to tell you all that they have learned from their experiences if you’re a serious individual seeking guidance. Having a mentor can help you avoid mistakes that they made when they were in your position and can help you get through certain challenges and obstacles that they faced. So, find someone that you know you can learn a great deal from, and ask the question. You owe it to yourself.
4.Attitude
Most people fail to realize that their position in life is a direct result of their attitude. If you feel like you’re failing at life, most likely you’re going to keep failing and create the effect of quicksand. On the other hand, if you feel like you can accomplish anything you set your mind on, then you are miles ahead of your pessimistic counterparts. The most important thing about life and the simplest to understand is that shit happens. See, after the darkest nights, the sun always rises. You can never let something bad that happens to you, destroy your positive attitude. There is no way you can reach your happy place in life if you don’t believe you have the ability or willpower to do so.
