Elementary school does not last forever. Many childhood friendships dwindle as life starts to happen. Here are just some of the things I wish I could say to my childhood best friend:
1.How are you?
Seriously if I could watch a feature film on how your life has been going these past 10 years, I would. I am so curious to know if your childhood dreams became reality, if you met your dream guy and if the world has been treating you the way you deserve.
2. I’m sorry
I’m sorry life got so crazy that we forgot about each other. I’m sorry our 9-year-old selves would be throwing a fit if they knew we haven’t spoken in years. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for the very best and worst times in your life that I always promised I would be.
3. Thank you
Thank you for some of the best memories from my childhood. You were one of the greatest friends I will ever have. More importantly, thank you for never judging a decision I made, allowing me to reach into my wildest imagination, and for never shutting down my crazy dreams and aspirations.
4. I hope that my children will find a friendship as real as ours was
Somewhere down the road when my kids enter primary school I hope they find that one person to always stand by their side. I would not be the person I am today without having known you, for that I am eternally grateful and I can only hope that God allows my children that same privilege.
If by some chance you are reading this, you are welcome for leaving out so many amazingly embarrassing stories.
