I'm currently interning for the United States Senate in Washington, DC. I work in the same office building as Bernie Sanders. The coolest part about my job is that I get to see so many famous politicians and law-makers every day (I'm a political nerd). Bernie and I may not agree on the issues, but I'll give it to him, I was absolutely star struck the first time that I saw him. He passed me in the hall and instead of greeting him with the professional "Good morning, Senator" I gave him a good ole blatant stare and a sputtered "hi". He did nod his head at me, so that's a start. The second time I saw him was in the elevator and this time I knew better than to blurt out a two letter greeting so I did in fact say "Good morning, Senator". When we got out of the elevator he accidentally hit me with his bag but I still considered it an acknowledgement of my existence.

While Marco Rubio may seem to be the obvious candidate crush with his dark features and young body, Bernie is really the ultimate catch. He's adorable in a grandpa way, and badass in a "I'm going to crush Hillary" way. My experience with Sanders may be less than romantic, but boy do I have a crush on him. And so should you and here's why.

1. His hair

This one was obvious to me, but seriously, his hair is adorable. Rumor has it that the messier his hair is, the more likely he is to beat Hillary. Try to tell me that it's not cute.

2. His social media game is way better than yours.

Bernie may be 73-years-old but I promise you he is better at social media than you. His Insta is hip, he has over 70,000 followers on twitter, and he even has an AMA on Reddit and has been named Reddit's "darling". His progressive policy ideas are appealing to millennials as it is, plus he knows exactly how to reach first time voters; via the internet.

3. Bernie Sanders is a hollywood hit.

Watch out Schwarzenegger, you're not the only actor/politician. Bernie appeared in a B-list (at best) comedy in 1999. Sanders was a star for about two minutes in the low budget film My X-Girlfriends Wedding Reception. Click the picture to watch the full video.
