Dogs have been in competition for ages. We have that Purina dog show that airs on television Thanksgiving Day for goodness sake. Now I am not saying that all dogs aren't cute or cuddly but there is one breed in particular that caught my attention and heart. The Pomeranian.

I have had Labs, Chow Chows, and of course a Pomeranian which makes me partial to all of them. But none quite like a Pom have stolen my heart.

(Disclaimer: I am not advocating for anyone to run out and purchase one today, but this is just a run down of my opinion on this dog breed)

Here are 4 reasons why Pomeranian's are the "best breed in the world"

1. They have such a large personality for such a tiny/small dog

Yes everyone says that their dogs have the biggest personality they have ever seen, but none compare to a Pom. They can be loud and excited, or mellow and cuddly. Or they can be all of the emotions at the same time. They tend to have large Napoleon Complexes which make for an interesting dynamic between owner and pet. The way a Pomeranian walks (more like a strut) is something to behold, you can see the "I'm famous" look radiating off of them like the sunshine on the sand.

2. They make perfect lap dogs

As I sit here typing this, mine is laying on my lap taking a power nap. Pomeranian's are that amazing size that just can fit on your lap without being too terribly heavy. Some enjoy head pets, or belly rubs or both. Some just like to be next to you. No better feeling in the world if you ask me.

3. They are so fluffy!

It's like petting a walking cloud. Poms are soft and have dense fluffy fur which give them the appearance of a cotton ball on stilts (I call my dog that). Pomeranian's have two layers of fur, the long outer coat and the dense undercoat which gives that puffy appearance.

4. Pomeranian's are just an all around MVP

They have the looks, the personality and the determination to be the perfect pet for you. Sure they have their moments where you only want to punt them across a football field (DON'T EVER DO IT) but in the end you look at them and smile because they are so gosh darn cute. They fetch like a lab and worry about their appearance like cats (oh yes this is true) and they make the best companions. I for one couldn't ever imagine my life without one (and I hope I never will). Pomeranian's make you smile with their cute little fox faces just begging you to pet them (or give them belly rubs).

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
