Four Reasons Why Going Home For The Summer Is Wonderful

We know the feeling. You pack up your car, hug your sorority sisters and boyfriend goodbye, with tears in your eyes. "How can I go home without these people?" you think to yourself. "This summer will be miserable. I can't WAIT to get back to school", you think. But there is something so refreshing, comfortable, and wonderful about going back home for the summer.

1. You are reunited with your high-school friends.

No matter the distance, whether they are hundreds of miles, or simply down the road from you in a different Sorority house, you grow apart from your high school friends during the course of the school year. When you move back home for the summer, you are re-connected with those who know you, and debatably, love you, the best. Bring on the nostalgic memories, and 'high school friends' reunions.

2. You are no longer dependent on yourself.

Being back home for the Summer means that you are in the arms of those who are still responsible for you: your parents. So much of college includes being responsible for yourself, making your own decisions, feeding yourself, buying day-to-day items for yourself, and so much more, but moving back home gives you the ability to let your parents do what they're best at: take care of you.

3. You get to spend time with your family.

Some people are probably reading this heading, rolling their eyes and thinking "yeah, right", but it's true. Moving home for the Summer gives you a chance to spend time with the people you don't always get to see, including those who have provided for you, laughed with you, cried with you, and those who know you best. The sibling fights and curfews may seem annoying at first, but when you're turning 30-something and have a family of your own, you'll realize just how important the moments together really are.

4. You get to relax.

Summer is a season created for relaxation. Whether you've found yourself a summer nannying job, a vacation to the beach, a picnic in the local park ,or grabbing ice cream with a friend in the evening, you're more than likely experiencing a level of relaxation you can't experience during the business of the school year. Being at home, and prancing around your stomping grounds is comfortable, relaxing, and overall, blissful. It's one of the many reasons that moving back home for the summer isn't actually all that bad.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
