4 New Jersey/New York Bands You Should Know.

If you only listen to the top charts and what plays on the radio, you're missing out. The local scene has some pretty good bands that are often overlooked because they're not on the top charts. I for one, prefer the local, lesser known bands over the "popular" ones. If i'm not in class, working, or sleeping, chances are I'm at a local show in North Jersey, Philly, or New York.

We can't forget that all your favorite bands started from the bottom just like these bands, and climbed their way to the top charts. Here's a few local bands that are under the radar but totally deserve to be on the top charts. Who knows, maybe you'll find your new favorite band in this list.

1. Zoume

Zoume is a four piece metal/rock band from New York, New York. Zoume formed in September 2013 and since then they've released two EP's. Both of Zoume's music videos have over 20,000 views on YouTube and they have almost 4,000 subscribers. Zoume has hit over 16,000 Facebook fans as well. Zoume has played a show at Gramercy Theater with "The World Alive," opened for "Escape The Fate," and they packed Webster hall for their first show ever at that venue. But in all honesty, their biggest accomplishments are definitely both their EPs, "Storyteller," and "Prophecy," they worked really hard on them. "Storyteller" was recently remastered too.

2. In Loving Memory

In Loving Memory is a four piece rock/metal/post-hardcore band from Long Island, New York. In almost two years of being a band, In Loving Memory has reached 14,000 Facebook fans and 9,000 Youtube subscribers. In September 2015, In Loving Memory played for about 700 people at Stony brook University opening for Time Flies and Walk the Moon. In Loving Memory just toured the Midwest this past spring for three weeks on the Black Sheep Never Sleep Tour, as well. They also released their debut EP "Stand My Ground" in August 2015. And the most important accomplishment according to Naveed Stone (vocals) is, In Loving Memory winning over my heart.

3. Bad Case of Big Mouth

Bad Case of Big Mouth is a five piece easy core band from Harrison, New Jersey. Since forming in 2013, Bad Case of Big Mouth has reached 17,000 Facebook fans, and almost 2,000 YouTube subscribers. In 2014 Bad Case of Big Mouth released their CD "Straight Up Bad Luck" and just recently they released their new EP "Break It to Build It". Bad Case of Big Mouth will be playing "The Rock Carnival 2016" on October 2nd in Lakewood, New Jersey with "The Used," "Halestorm," and many more. Bad Case of Big Mouth has tour plans for the fall/winter so be sure to keep an eye out for them!

4. Monument of A Memory

Monument of A Memory is five piece metal band from Paramus, New Jersey. Monument of A Memory is almost at 4,000 Facebook fans, and almost 200 YouTube subscribers. Monument of A Memory released their first debut EP "Dreamwalker" in 2015 and their second EP "Catharsis" July 2016. All of Monument of A Memory's music has been recorded and mixed in their guitarists home studio too, which is pretty impressive. Kevin (guitarist) mentioned that when they were all growing up, they would attend shows at Starland Ballroom, a venue in New Jersey and they all dreamed about playing there. Last year they were contacted by Starland to play a show there, and since then, they have played there three times. Monument of A Memory is actually playing Starland Ballroom on October 7th, they're opening for "Parkway Drive," "We Came As Romans," and "Counterparts."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
