Some Films that I personally like

4 Foreign Films to Watch

There is no particular order on how I rank these films. They are all on these same level on my list.

1. House (1977)

This movie is about This girl , Gorgeous and her friends going to visit Goreous' aunt's house. Once they arrive at the aunt's house, horror insues literally once they step into the house. This movie has so many cool editing and special effect in it. I love over the top editing and that is what you get out of this movie. It is this campy horror film. To be quite honest this movie is not like any other movie. That is what makes it so unique and awesome. Even though it can be very weird it has a lot of beautiful shots and matte painting. It is a bit graphic for some audiences so I wouldn't recommend watching it with children.I would definitely describe it like a fever dream. It is not a scary film but it does have that typical scary movie formula of one girl getting picked off one by one. Also I love the idea that all of Goreous and her friends have nicknames. So there's Gorgeous, Melody, Mac, Prof, Kung Fu, Sweet, and Fantasy. It kind of makes me thinks of Snow-white and the Seven Dwarfs. Its a very eccentric film.It has an awesome sound track to it.So definitly check it out.

2. Battle Royale

Some would consider this movie to be what inspired the Hunger Games. I can see where people would consider these two pretty similar. I would say watch both of them and figure which one you like. I like Battle Royale because its is a bit more personal than the hunger games. So about 800,000 students walked out of school and so the government passed The Battle Royale Act was Passed; hoping to stop any rebellions. Each year one class is chosen to be in this years Battle Royale on a secluded island. The Battle Royale is only 3 days and only one person can live. It is more elaborate than the hunger games. One they have these collars on their neck that if they go into a center zone at a center time it will explode. Two they get these bags at the beginning when they are heading into the game. The bag is full of items like food and water. There is also a weapon in there but not everyone gets a good weapon. One girl get a pot so its intense on a totally different level. Also by the way my favorite scene is the light house scene.

3. Ponyo

This is a Studio Ghibli film and if you haven't seen any of their animated films I highly recommend them. You have seen their films you are probably wondering why I didn't choose Howl's Moving Castle,Spirited Away, Grave of the Fireflies , or maybe My Neighbor Totoro . Look I absolutely love all those movies. They are definitely fantastic but I have found myself from time to time going back to Ponyo. I have always loved the ocean and different types of animals that live in there. I also think that this film is so beautiful with the coloring that they pick. The relationship between the characters are so adorable that it just makes me smile. The characters are filled with good qualities and often show the virtues of being loyal and honest. The character design is so adorable I love Ponyo as a fish and a little girl. This is a beautiful film to watch with your kids.

4. The Orphanage

The movie is about a women who was an orphan returns years later to buy the orphanage she once grew up in. But once she arrives stranger things start to happen and a big secret is revealed . It shows the intense love of a mother for her child. This is the type of horror film that I want. It is a film where I can't predict the end. I kept thinking oh its gonna go this way, nope! They get you the whole time. In the end everything fits together like a puzzle. Legit everything that is done in the movie has a reason and will be explained later. I love when movies do that because a lot of movie now do things and don't explain them. This would be under a ghost film. This is not a gorey film. It does use cheap shots to scare audiences . It is moody and atmospheric .

Take time to watch some of these. There is something out there for everyone.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
