4 Simple DIY Fall Decor Using Leaves

What makes fall so wonderful? The cool breezes, cozy sweaters, and, of course, the beautiful leaves. Celebrate the coming of fall with these very simple, very affordable, and very adorable DIY décor centered around the leaves.

1. Framed Leaves

What you will need: A clear glass frame and fake, or real, leaves (different sizes and colors)

All you have to do is place 3 leaves, smallest to largest, faced down into the frame in a vertical position. You can hang this on your wall or just place it on your dresser. This is my favorite DIY because it is very pretty and so easy to make.

2 Autumn Lights

What you will need: Fake leaves and fairy light

Take a leaf, fold it in half, and cut a little incision into the middle of it. Then, poke the light into the hole of the leaf. Do this into you have all of the lights in a leaf.

This looks great hanging on a wall, especially above or around a window.

3. Illuminating Leaf Candle

What you will need: Mason Jar, a fake leaf (medium to large), acrylic paint, a paintbrush, and a small candle

You should begin by attaching your leaf to the front of the jar with a piece of tape. With the color of your choosing, paint the entire jar while painting over the attached leaf. When the entire jar is painted, remove the leaf. Then, leave the jar to completely finish drying. Once the jar is dry, place the candle inside and light it. You could also tie a string of twine or a fall-themed ribbon around the opening.

4. Leaf Bowls

What you will need: A balloon, fake leaves, mod podge, scissors, a bowl (to place the balloon in) , and a sponge brush

Begin by cutting the stems off of the leaves and peeling off the veins if there are any on them. Then, blow up the balloon to your desired size and put it inside of the mixing bowl to keep it in place. With the mod podge in a cup, apply a thin layer on the top of your balloon. Lay a leaf on top of the mod podge, smooth it out with your fingers, and a apply a thin layer of mod podge on top of it. Continue this process, covering empty spaces by overlapping the leaves on top of the balloon.

Tip: How much you cover the balloon determines how much depth you bowl will have.

When the mod podge dries completely, carefully pop the balloon with a pin at the tied end to slowly let the air out. The leaves may shrink down when the balloon deflates, but it will go back to normal after a minute. Now you should have a bowl made out of leaves

Use your bowl to hold Halloween candy or just use it as a decoration.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
