4 Artist You Need To Listen To

There's no greater feeling than discovering a new artist and falling in love with their music, am I right? I am always on the search for new music whether I'm looking through Spotify or when my friends play music while we're driving. Discovering artists who aren't well known are my favorite because I think of them as my little secret. Plus, since they are so talented I get to see them grow in the music industry and get the recognition they deserve. So here are 4 artists/bands that are on the verge of becoming well-known and are remarkably talented.

1. gnash: Gnash's hit song "i hate u, i love u" featuring Olivia O'Brien is sweeping the nation right now. This song exemplifies the amount of work he puts into his music. He truly passionate about his music, especially his lyrics. He makes such that his lyrics have emotions and meaning to them rather than just sounding catchy. Gnash is such a free-spirit and that essence of fun is well reflected in his music. Whether it's one of his slow love songs or an upbeat party song you can tell he hand-crafted each and every song. He is just beginning his career in the music industry and I hope to see him grow as the amazing artist is. So check out his hit song "i hate u, i love u" and I can guarantee you will have it stuck in your head all day.

2. Blackbear: Everyone knows Justin Bieber's song "Boyfriend" right? Well believe it or not, that was co-written by Blackbear, also known as Matthew Musto. Blackbear got his start in the music industry as a songwriter and has collaborated with many artists such as G-Eazy, Hoodie Allen, and Childish Gambino. Soon enough Blackbear decided to focus on his own music and has released several EP's over the years. He is an eminent singer-songwriter who can also rap. His interest in rapping is well reflected in the R&B-oriented music he creates. Here is one of his hit songs off of his Deadroses EP, "idfc":

3. BØRNS: This Michigan native left home in pursuit of a music career and found his inspiration which launched his career in Los Angeles. Garett Borns, also known by his stage name BØRNS, is new to the music industry, but is taking it by storm. His name became known due to the release of Candy EP and his hit song "Electric Love". BØRNS music is so unique and blends so many different genres together. His style is electro-pop with hints of rock and folk. A lot of his songs feature amazing guitar parts which are played by none other than himself. He is a well rounded singer-songwriter and can play a plethora of instruments as well. Listen to BØRNS unique soul in his popular track, "Electric Love":

4. LANY: This 3-man band is new to the music scene, but is already creating some great tunes. Paul Jason Klein, Jake Goss and Les Priest all came together in March of 2014 to make LANY. Their music is soft with an R&B soul to it. It is often described as "dreamy pop" and your heart will definitely melt at every song. They have releases singles and EP's over the past 2 years and have had some hits such as "ILYSB" and "WHERE THE HELL ARE MY FRIENDS". Their sound is like no other band out there so you should definitely check them out. Have a listen to one of their newest singles, "WHERE THE HELL ARE MY FRIENDS":

Whether all these artists are new to you or have heard a few of their songs I hope you enjoy their music as much as I do. Now go make a playlist with all their music and have a jam session or play it in your car on a nice enjoyable drive.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead.
