Orange juice and...toothpaste?

3 Pieces Of Irony We Experience Every Day

There are too many "this doesn't make sense" moments in a day. They creep up on you but are confusing enough to take up brain space for a few seconds, minutes, or even hours. From things your friends say, to random oddities you notice while going about your day, things we see as normal can capture our attention as ironic. These are just a few.

1. Orange Juice & Toothpaste

We are supposed to brush our teeth twice a day: once in the morning and once at night. Most toothpastes come in a mint flavor, as it leaves your mouth feeling fresh and clean. One of the first things I do in the morning is brush my teeth because I can't stand morning breath, as I'm sure many others do, too. But after that is done, I will want to eat some breakfast and what is the most popular breakfast juice? Orange juice. What two flavors taste absolutely terrible when combined? Mint and orange. I think that explains itself pretty well.

2. Police Officer Driving Skills

One of the first things I do when I see a police officer on the road is to make sure I'm driving as legally as possible. I check my speed, make sure my headlights are on (if need be) and always have my seatbelt fastened. However, I begin to question a lot when a police officer, a person who I would assume to be the most law-abiding of citizens is...speeding? And not like a police chase speeding, but driving at a speed visibly higher than the speed limit. Can I drive faster? Should I be driving faster? Will I get pulled over for driving too slow? I become very self conscious of my driving habits and then question everything.

3. "Sun showers"

Sun showers, while a cool phenomenon, are very ironic. How can it be sunny and rainy at the same time? We always associate sunny days with good weather and rainy days with bad, but when they happen at the same time it can be a bit confusing. As we move into summer, sun showers become a common occurrence. There were two where I live this week! While it may be strange, and make it difficult to make summer plans, the rainbows they produce are always stunning.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
