39 Things You Think During Midterms Week
Her Campus at Oregon

It's that time of the year: MIDTERMS. The time of the semester when it seems like everything is due at once. The time of the semester when you have so much to do you don't even know where to start. Its a tough time, but hey, at least it sucks for pretty much everyone.

Here's just a few things that have gone through my mind this week:

1. Why did I take all of these classes at the same time?

2. How bad would it be if I dropped this class?

3. Do I REALLY need this class to graduate?

4. If I fail this test can I still pass the class?

5) WHAT WAS I THINKING TAKING THESE CLASSES AT THE SAME TIME?

6. What GPA do I have to have to keep Zell miller/ hope/ my scholarships?

7. Does this professor know that this isn't the only class I'm taking?

8. Maybe I should just drop out and become a nun/monk.

9. Wow I suck at this, maybe I should I should switch my major...

10....but I can't because I suck more at everything else...

11. ...but what if I don't...

12. ...FOCUS PLEASE BRAIN THANK YOU

13. Why can't I remember this crap, I feel like I haven't attended a day of class.

14. Where was my brain when we learned this?

15. I'm still pretty and funny, at least I have that...

16. ...right?

17. Gosh, I should've recorded these lectures, my notes suck...

18. ... heck I can't even read my own notes.

19. Maybe I can just quit, find a man, and become a housewife and a mother. (sorry guys, y'all don't quite have this option)

20. OMG PUPPY VIDEOS ON FACEBOOK!

21. OMG why did I spend so much time watching puppy videos on Facebook

22. HOW IS ALL OF THIS STUFF DUE IN THE SAME WEEK, ARE YOU JOKING???

23. I hate school.

24. Woah, how are the bags under my eyes that dark...?

25. My brain has reached its absorptive capacity.

26. I literally can't learn anything else.

27. What does any of this mean?

28. HIT ME WITH A CAR SO I DON'T HAVE TO TAKE MY MIDTERMS

29. Should I study this marathon style or break it up over a few days?

30. Why did I wait this long to review this stuff?!

31. (Trying to speak English) La promlens stans..... Wait that wasn't even English... or any language I know...

32. Ahh so many things to do but I'm so tired but I can't shut my brain off so I can sleep...

33. Wait did we even learn this? What is this, Russian?

34. How much coffee does it take to die of a caffeine overdose, because I'm getting pretty close I think!

35. Am I supposed to know when my panic attacks are coming? How can you tell?

36. (Panic attack comes)

37. (Tears and mutterings)

38. (Panic attack ends) glad that's over, now back to work!

39. Is it Friday yet?

Okay, yes, I'm over exaggerating a little bit (except kinda not really). At the end of the day, you're going to be fine. It's a tough week, but it helps knowing that it'll will pass and everything will be fine no matter how well you do. It's a comfort to know that you're not the only one swamped.

I hope every college student reading this did well on their exams and that they found some roses among the thorns!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
