30 Ways To Be A Happier You

My life has been filled with many ups and downs, just like most people's. When I get down, it is easy to fall into a slump and imagine the worst. Since coming to college, I have experienced multiple things that have been a struggle and other things that have made me grow as a person. I remind myself of to either stay humble or look for the positives regardless of the circumstance that hits me. Here is a list of ways to be a happier you and enjoy a positive life!

1. Enjoy the little things.

The little things in life are what make it worth it! A much-needed thunderstorm or a movie night spent in with friends are just a few ideas.

2. Stop and smell the roses.

3. Don't worry about what others think. (I know, it's easier said than done.)

It has taken me a long time and many years to even gain an inch in this thought. Worrying about what others think is a big waste of time and doesn't allow you to be yourself!

4. Spend time with loved ones.

5. Clean your room. Often.

6. Take lots of pictures, but still enjoy what you're doing.

It is often easy to get caught up in creating that perfect Instagram picture, which is fun, but don't let that distract you from enjoying what you're doing.

7. Splurge (occasionally.)

8. Put down your cell phone.

9. Always show kindness, and you'll get kindness back.

10. Sleep in.

11. Take care of your body in whatever way works for you.

Eat clean, exercise, do yoga, train for a marathon— do something every single day that gets you moving!

12. Make time for friends.

13. stay in and cook.

14. But, remember that a night out with friends is always fun.

15. Keep drinking water.

16. Spend time in the sun.

17. Work hard for what you want.

No matter your passion, there is always a way to achieve your dreams. Don't be afraid to go for what you want.

18. Read an actual book— not a downloadable one on your phone.

19. Write, blog, journal. Get your feelings out.

20. Give compliments to others. It is so easy and I know they'll be so grateful.

21. Paint, draw, use that creative side.

22. Listen to music. Don't be afraid to dance.

23. Make new friends. It isn't as hard as it seems.

I know it can be scary to reach out to someone you're not totally comfortable around, but meeting new people can open up a ton of new opportunities.

24. Pamper yourself when needed.

25. Call your parents.

26. Eat your fruits and veggies.

27. Take that much-needed vacation.

28. Reminisce on the past, but never regret moving forward.

It is okay to look back on your life whether they were good experiences or bad. But never forget why you have moved on because it is all shaping you into who you're meant to be!

29. Get rid of the negatives in your life.

30. And finally, don't forget to smile!

Following at least some of these tips will ensure a happier you! A happier you leads to a fun-filled life that will attract the best things coming your way.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
