1. Everyone is just as nervous about college as you are.

2. You can survive without your parents.

3. But you still miss them like crazy.

4. You're so much more productive when you can set your own schedule.

5. And when you get to take classes you enjoy.

6. You can stay up as late as you want.

7. So coffee will be your new best friend.

8. You CAN get sick of Chick-Fil-A if you eat if every single day.

9. Even if you swear you'll never touch it, junk food will find its way into your life.

10. But working out at the gym is actually lots of fun.

11. Even so, the freshman 15 is very, very real.

12. Meeting people from all over the world will give you an amazing perspective on life.

13. Stepping outside your comfort zone isn't easy, but it's necessary.

14. You will deal with heartbreak.

15. And it will help you build stronger relationships with your friends.

16. And it will help you learn more about who you are and who you want to be.

17. And when you're ready, you will find someone amazing.

18. You'll actually miss being at school during winter break.

19. Your planner is your life source.

20. Making schedules can reduce stress.

21. So can journaling.

22. And reading books.

23. The library is one of the best places on campus.

24. You really do like Ranch dressing.

25. You can actually take a nap.

26. Never discount someone as a friend.

27. Follow your passion, even if you're not sure about it.

28. You are stronger than you think you are.

29. You are happier than you ever thought you could be.

30. It will go faster than you can even imagine.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
