After many stressful weeks of papers, finals and presentations, summer is finally here! With so many days available for activities, it is easy to run out of things to do. Here is a list of must-dos for the next few months to make sure you make this season one to remember!

  1. Work a double shift at your summer job.
  2. Cry in bed about how you're not ready for the real world.
  3. Use up all your super-likes on Tinder.
  4. Knit a sweater.
  5. Accidentally like a picture on your crush’s Instagram from 165 weeks ago.
  6. Drunk-text your ex.
  7. Drunk-email your professors for fall semester.
  8. Get sun poisoning.
  9. Awkwardly reunite with people you haven’t seen since graduation.
  10. Go somewhere scenic just to take a picture of it for Instagram and then leave.
  11. Overpay for a smoothie.
  12. Run at a public pool and get yelled at by the lifeguards.
  13. Get attacked by seagulls.
  14. Try to come up with the next flavor of Lay's potato chips.
  15. Tell your mom you’re too busy to clean your room when you actually have a lot of free time.
  16. Make ice cubes.
  17. Overuse the dog filter.
  18. Try to roast marshmallows with a really hot light bulb when you don’t feel like going outside.
  19. Plan a vacation.
  20. Cancel it because you realize you can’t afford it.

  38. Take bikini pictures with your friends on the beach to use as a #tbt during wintertime.
  39. Get stung by bees while trying to pick flowers.
  40. Drop your ice cream cone on the floor.
  41. Cry about it.
  42. Countdown until the first day of school.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.
