Are you getting ready for Spring Break? Well, make sure that you follow these three tips and have the best Spring Break of your life (until next year).
1. Get as many people as possible to go on spring break with you.
Whether you are going to Myrtle Beach for three days or on a cruise to the Bahamas for a week, make sure that your spring break group is as big as possible; I mean, don’t go crazy and invite your entire 90-person chapter but make sure that you have at least ten people.
Why does it matter? Have you ever been to a three- or five-person sleepover when you were little? You know the sleepover I’m talking about—there’s always one person that is left out and is miserable the whole night. Well, imagine that sleepover turning into a week long sleepover that is even worse than a normal sleepover because there’s alcohol and inevitable sunburns involved. By having more people on the trip, there’s a lesser chance of being that “awkward friend” that’s left out or having your activity choices limited because there’s only one car, etc.
So, invite your whole pledge class or all of your dorm hall mates and save yourself from a drama filled week of, “who’s hanging out with who”.
2. Bring a disposable camera.
Stop laughing. I know that it sounds silly (and very “middle school-ish") but trust me, it will add so many fun qualities to your trip.
One of my roommates last year brought a few disposable cameras on our spring break trip and (like y’all just did) we all laughed at her when she took them out of her bag. But, when she brought them onto the beach we realized that she was a genius.
1.She didn’t have to worry about getting sand in her phone (or dropping it in the ocean) because she wanted to take pictures.
2.Everyone around us laughed and loved that some girl has a disposable camera (then asked to take a picture with her—aka making friends and adding to the memories catalog for last years spring break pictures).
3.The pictures were adorable when she had the disposable camera’s film developed. No Instagram filter could have given us better pictures—and now some of those pictures are hanging up in our apartment.
3. Remember that you are coming back to reality once the week is over.
Yes, spring break is great and it will be one of the fun (and funniest) weeks of your college years. But, I need for everyone to remember that it is only one week out of your entire life—so don’t make stupid decisions that will alter your future. Have fun, get “crazy” but always remember that “sprang break” doesn’t last forever.
