I am going to say something a little controversial, and I'm sure some men will be upset that I am bringing this up. But, ladies…we need to stop with the booty pics. I’m not talking about being in the gym and taking progress pics (that is okay every once in a blue moon). I am talking this new fad where random girls get randomly asked to ‘model’ for some guy with a go-pro, or who just decide to take a picture of their booty in a thong and post it. What have we come to???? I was uncomfortable enough in the first place buying a bikini with less fabric than usual and now we are posting naked pictures on social media? I have so many things to say about this; but I will try to keep it short (and as sweet as possible) with 3 main reasons.Reason one: Your future. It goes without saying that our generation is very dependent on social media. This can be both a good or a bad thing. I’m not sure if you avid booty pic girls know that when you apply for as job (because you can’t booty pic model forever) people will search your social media. Do you think the person in charge of hiring for that job is going to think “Wow, look at that booty pic, she seems like a real asset to our community. I can really see how much of an impact she has made on those around her.” I feel pretty confident saying that 99.99999% of companies will not be thinking that. It is inappropriate, something that should be kept private, and should definitely not be posted on Instagram on #HumpDay. Not only that, but what if you have a daughter one day? What if you walked in on your daughter taking a booty pic? Are you going to just pop in and be like, “OOOOO LET ME GET IN THAT PIC HANG ON LET ME CHANGE INTO MY LACEY CHEETAH THONG!” I hope to all things good that you will not say that. Just think about this stuff next time you want to get cheeky.
Reason 2: You know this whole feminist thing where people are trying to strive to make women equal to men? You’re killing it. Every time a booty pic is posted you are reassuring to men that yes, women are trophies and just good for our looks. Trust me when I say that by posting a booty pic you are not making a man want to be with you for the long term. We, as women, are smart, and beautiful, and strong. We do not need a booty pic to prove our worth. Showing men these pictures only confirms the notion that women are sexual toys and not equal humans. I don’t know about you but that is not okay with me…at all. Post a picture of your awesome grade on your anatomy lab, or of something cool you did at work. Prove to everyone that women are equal and are as powerful as we are beautiful. Keep your peaches in the bag.
Reason 3: You are making some girls feel even worse about themselves. If your body is fantastic, that is amazing and I am so happy for you! I am also sure that we can tell if you have a nice booty without a pic being taken. You may like the attention it gives you, but these booty pics are really hurting some girls. With all of the pressure from society to be perfectly skinny but curvy, with perfect hair, and polished teeth, we do not need to make any more standards for ourselves. I promise you there is a girl looking at your booty pic and crying, or even worse, starving herself because she wants to look like that though her body is not made like that. We all have our insecurities, and I promise your booty pics that you think are so awesome are actually doing more harm than good. Everybody has a different body, and instead of trying to show yours off all the time with half naked pictures, why don’t we try to build others up? Lets not make all women think that we all have to have a bubble butt, or huge knockers, and a flat tummy. Let’s all try to build each other up no matter how our bodies are made.
So obviously I could go on about why booty pics should end, but these are the three main reasons. I am not saying that it is not okay to have a fantastic body and a nice butt, that is awesome and I love that! We all have something special about us and if you have a fantastic body that is great! I just do not agree with half naked photos for everyone and their mother to see. Love me or hate me, I am just saying what I know a lot of other people would agree with and what I think some people need to read. So please, think before you post. Not only for your sake, but for the sake of womanhood in general. DOWN WITH BOOTY PICS FOREVER!
