A Greek "Home Away from Home"

3 Waψs to Knθw Whεn Yoυ’ve FounΔ Yδur HomΣ

As a stressful yet exciting recruitment draws to a close for this new school year, it always reminds you of why you ran home to the house that you did. These new girls currently rushing are looking for the same things that you once were! Hopefully with these ways, they are able to run home to the house that is best fit for them too

1. Feel comfortable—

Greek Rushing can be a super hectic time! You meet all these new girls, you visit and see all these new organizations that might seem overwhelming and sometimes you have a preconception about what one house is like over another. But it’s always good to keep in mind that the one you belong to is the one that should feel like home <3 You shouldn’t feel the need to impress anyone and you shouldn’t have to force anything. You know when you’re home when you can be yourself, even though sometimes you try to fight it

2. Make a connection—

Choosing which house you feel most at home with isn’t always going to be the house that throws the best mixers or has the most events or the prettiest girls. A big part of Greek life is about the philanthropies that they raise awareness for and support. There are so many different philanthropies and causes that sororities and frats can touch on, and they each adopt their own depending on their vibe and the types of people that are in it. If you connect with the philanthropies and the vibe of the house/room, that’s when you know that you belong. If you can see yourself side by side with the girls for these causes and they have the same vision as you, then maybe that’s home (:

3. Find The Perfect Girls!—

Although a big part about greek life is competition, when in the process of finding where you belong and which group you want to adopt to be your “home away from home” it shouldn’t be a part of the equation. Because finding the place for you isn’t necessarily about which house ranks the highest or gives you the most food (even though that sorority would seem SUPER appealing). Even though those things can appeal aesthetically or make you feel better about a decision, it doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily your best fit. It comes down to the people! You know you’re home when you meet girls that you love, girls that you can see yourself growing with and girls that you would love to spend time with- girls that will be your best friend! Having that connection means that being able to picture yourself welcomed with open arms, see yourself being supported by this group when you need it, and feel that these girls that are similar to you. Once you find that connection with the people, don’t try to fight it—it’s just a small sign that you might have found your home

I definitely know that I happily found mine <3 Congrats to all the new members who just finished rushing and picking a sorority! You are in for a wild ride.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
