3 Hidden West Texas Destinations To Visit Before You Die

Us Texans are extremely blessed to live in such a beautiful state where we are constantly surrounded by not only beautiful people, but also beautiful sites and destinations. Whether you're driving on an old dirt road, or finding your way through the beautiful city of Dallas; your view will always be amazing. Here in Texas we have an array of different climates, which help set each section of Texas apart from the other. With just a short six hour drive from one destination to another; you can go from warm, wet, humidity to a dry, hot desert. The seasons are constantly changing and the weather will always be a surprise. You can go one day wearing shorts, to the next day wearing a pair of UGG boots. But here in Texas we have a lot of places that set us apart from anywhere else, and here are my top three places that do so...

1. Big Bend National Park

Big Bend is not only one of the most beautiful sites I've seen in Texas, but it is also one of the most beautiful sites I've seen...EVER. Stretching as far as 1.251 miles, their demographic is huge. Although it is a desert, it's not a vast emptiness but a life zone; Big Bend is known to be home to hundreds of different plants and animals that are suited to their situations. Most importantly though, the views are the most astonishing aspects of the whole park. With their wide range, the park has to offer hundreds of trails including the most famous trail of the park: The Chisos Mountains Trail. The Chisos Mountains Trail is home to numerous peaks and mountains that tower over the 1.251 mil. park such as: Casa Grande (7,325 ft.), Toll Mountain (7,415 ft.), Emory Peak *pictured above (7,825 ft.), Ward Mountain (6,925 ft.), Carter Peak (5,688 ft.), and Vernon Bailey Mountain. Not only does Big Bend offer an account of mountains and trails, Big Bend also offers many other activities for everyone to enjoy.

2. Marfa, Tx

Small but mighty...

Marfa is a small town located in west Texas. Most people do not know of the adventure this small, desert town has to offer. The whole town shuts down around 8pm but the fun never stops at El Cosmico. El Cosmico is a small campsite located in Marfa that offers numerous different lodging. At El Cosmico they offer tepees like the one pictured above, yurts, trailers, and also you can bring a tent to pitch. But my favorite are the tepees! Nothing quite says west Texas like sleeping in a tepee in a desert. Inside the tepees is a queen bed with heated mattress pad, love seat and small daybed as well as lighting and an electrical outlet for charging devices. I pinky promise, you will not have a regret staying in the awesome tepees!! Not only does Marfa consist of awesome tepees and yurts, but Marfa is also famous for Prada Marfa, which is a famous permanently installed sculpture masking the famous Prada in the middle of a desert.

3. Balmorhea State Park

Balmorhea is a small town also located in West Texas that most people don't know about. Balmorhea State Park is a 46-acre park located right outside of Balmorhea with its biggest attraction being its spring pool located on the San Solomon Springs in Reeves County. With its crystal clear water, snorkeling is a must. This place has so much beauty to offer without having to travel all the way to the coast. So put on your goggles and watch as you swim along next to a large amount of schools of fish.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
