Justin Bieber said it best when he sang, "My mama don't like you, and she likes everyone." Moms are a special, special thing. The only women who can exemplify love at all times, yet still be ready/willing to harm anyone who hurts you. There are a million reasons to thank your mom, but here are 27 of the very best:

1. For always dropping your textbooks off at the Post Office for you because it gives you literal anxiety.

2. For giving you complete control of the DVR when you're home because she understands that your need to keep up with the Kardashians trumps her need to watch “Fixer Uppers.”

3. For those middle school days when you would get in arguments with other girls and their mom would call your mom, and your mom would always be on your side.

4. ...Even when you were wrong.

5. For always telling you which picture you look best in for your potential Instagram posts.

6. For always replying to those 11:30 p.m., “Are you awake?” texts.

7. For disliking anyone who ever hurt your feelings.

8. ...ever.

9. For getting mad that you charged your Netflix account on her credit card, but continuing to pay for it every month.

10. For being understanding when you move home for the summer and your stuff consumes the whole house.

11. ...just kidding. Maybe not.

    12. For never friend-ing your friends on Facebook and instead waits for them to friend her (because everyone wants to be friends with her, duh!)

    13. For meeting you at KFC halfway between your hometown and college just because you miss the sound of her voice.

    14. ...and then proceeding to buy you the KFC.

    15. For not taking “Moe's Monday” as a valid excuse to overspend, but then always putting more money in your account.

    16. ...for more “Moe's Monday,” obviously!

    17. For supporting you in every single thing you do.

    18. Even the things you're not any good at (i.e. sports.)

    19. For those little gifts she brings whenever she comes to visit you at college.

    20. For paying $15 extra every month because you go over your phone data. (She does send you a strongly-worded text message about this, though...)

    21. For immediately texting you asking, “Who is that? Is he a potential?” after a boy comments or likes any of your photos.

    22. Wait, actually, why am I thankful for that?

    23. I don't even know, but I still am!

    24. For always sending you pictures of your pets when you're not at home.

    25. ...and for FaceTiming you with them.

    26. For those “Would you wear this?” texts when she's out shopping and sees something she thinks you would like.

    27. For loving you unconditionally despite your dramatic tendencies, intense overspending habits and ability to make the house a wreck anytime you're home.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
