1) Old souls relate to people who are older than their age group. This can even happen when you're a kid. When I was young, I rather talk to my teacher about the book we read in class versus going to recess with my classmates.
2) For old souls, small talk is insipid and boring. We rather talk about GMOs, government corruption, and real world issues.
3) We are obsessed with a time period of the past, convincing ourselves it's time to get a time machine because we belong to that generation. Being stuck this generation makes you feel as if you are stranded on Gilligan’s Island with all Gilligans when you're the Professor.
4) We are considered strange by many people. We aren't seekers of constant crowds. We know that one can learn a great deal from solitude. Believe it or not, we enjoy being by ourselves. That's why our "lone wolf" time is deeply important to us.
5) We could care less about the latest trends. We aren't lovers of popular things. Anyway, what is the mannequin challenge? Why is it a challenge? Are we that easily amused?
6) Old souls are non-conformist. We are not mainstream. Mainstream society concerns are cultural rot to us: the selfie stick, the whole glamorization of the Kardashian lifestyle, what relationship Taylor Swift's status is in, and the list goes on and on. Once upon a time we admired rebels. However this generation shifted into zombie-like followers who want to be told who they are, admiring the usual. Old souls are in awe of the unusual. Old souls do not want to be told who they are. We are not like everyone else and we have no desire to be like everyone else either.
7) Old souls treasure memories over obtaining materialistic stuff.
8) Swing dancing and the Waltz is better than getting "turnt up" in the club any day.
9) Old souls would give up their souls to eliminate the pathetic: "Netflix and chill" type of dates. What happened to dates that were once road trips, picnics, wine tasting or anything remotely romantic at all?
10) We prefer going to record stores than getting songs off from Itunes.
11) Black and white movies are superior. One word: Casablanca. Am I right?
12) Old souls have a 'bigger picture' point of view and tend to not sweat the small stuff.
13) Old souls respect and admire the footprints that were left before us of the past.
14) Old souls love to inspire others and be surrounded by people who inspire us. We know it's not just about what you succeed in life, it's about what you inspire others to do.
15) Old souls have low egos. Humility is an important character trait to see in others and to have as well. The media is the vanity capital of the world. The media focuses on the backward notion of 'matter over mind.' An old soul values the true notion, 'mind over matter', the inner self, and forward-thinking. We know the path of humility goes a long way, and the path narcissism brings does not.
16) Since old souls are mature and are easy to be around, people always ask for an old soul's advice on many issues they are having.
17) Old souls value the simple pleasures life has to offer.
18) Old souls do not approve of today's lingo. From an old soul's perspective, phrases such as: "on fleek," "bae" and "relationship goals," are utterly ridiculous. It brings a whole new meaning to the word, "silliness" when people say, "the feels" instead of taking the time to express what they are actually feeling. #talknormal #notstupid
19) Old souls crave adventure. We seek adventure in everything we do. We want adventure in everything we see.
20) Old souls are creatures of emotion. Empathy is our best quality.
21) Old souls love to listen to others and are good at seeing things from different points of view, even if we feel detached from society most of the time.
22) We value "old" art, "old" music and "old" literature. I rather listen to Bob Dylan over Justin Bieber. I prefer classic paintings, over 3D art. I rather read The Crucible over Harry Potter.
23) An old soul is said to be wise beyond years. We do love to learn. We know experience is our greatest teacher versus studying material in a textbook.
24) We choose long-term happiness over short-term happiness. Old souls are tired of this hookup culture. We know in relationships nothing is perfect. That's why when it comes to dating, we are picky. We want someone who we can spend the rest of our lives with. We want a soulmate over something temporary.
25) The world is not the home of an old soul. Since we don't fit in with this generation everything bothers us.
26) I think the hardest part of being an old soul is the lonely feeling that comes with not finding people that can understand you.
