26 Signs You Went To Lakota West High School

1. "Main Street."

Whenever you hear "Main Street" again in your life, you'll think back to the hallway that was the core of Lakota West. Odds are, you have countless memories on Main Street from taking walks when you got a pass to use the restroom to getting run into by someone booking it to class.

2. If you're a girl you probably owned bomb squad pants your senior year.

You always looked forward to senior year and football season because it was finally your turn to wear the famous maroon, black and white camo pants.

3. You threw up the "W" with your group during homecoming/prom pictures.

You also probably tweeted it to Mr. Card.

4. Can someone say "beat East"?

The rivalry between East and West is something that will never die. And you'll never forget that glorious time that our football team beat them twice in one year.

5. Randy the janitor was out to get you at one point or another.

There was no roaming Main Street in the middle of class because Randy the janitor would demand to see your planner. You also couldn't just refer to him as "Randy." You couldn't speak of him unless it was "Randy the janitor."

6. Chipotle, Bob Evans or Bdubs were always the move after exams.

It was absolutely crucial to eat somewhere in Union Centre on exam days. It was also crucial to book it to your car in order to beat the long lines.

7. Pep rallies sucked.

It was a good effort, but they were far from peppy. At least classes were shorter.

8. Walking in dark hallways was totally normal.

It was rare for all the hall lights to be on. And if it was raining, Main Street actually felt like a prison.

9. You can't go to the Kroger off of Beckett without seeing someone you know.

At any given point in the day, if you go to Kroger you will see another Lakota West student. It's either awesome or awkward.

10. You loved Christmas kick line.

Don't lie. You got pumped when dance team performed their annual kick line dance to "All I Want For Christmas Is You" during December basketball games.

16. Trying to find a seat in the lunch room on block days was like "The Hunger Games."

On block days, they made the mistake of trying to squeeze 2,000 students into three lunches. At the beginning of the year you probably had to speed race to the cafeteria and claim your territory unless you wanted to pull a "Mean Girls" and eat in the bathroom. (Just kidding, but the cafeteria was pretty packed).

17. Homecoming parade grocery carts.

Who has time to make real floats for the homecoming parade when you could just borrow grocery carts from Kroger?

18. Did your promposal even happen if it didn't take place at West?

And if it didn't, there's a 98% chance a picture was tweeted moments after it happened.

19. You would see someone new everyday.

West sometimes felt like a small school and it felt like you were around the same people every day. In all actuality though, you saw a new face everyday.

20. You were the underdog of the school your first two years of high school.

It's always hard explaining the whole freshman building and main campus situation to non-Lakota people.

21. You got to watch the marching band on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.

Talk about being proud of the talent at your school.

22. You had a teacher at some point that didn't mess around with tardiness.

You probably had that teacher that made you get a tardy slip from the office for walking into first period at 8:06.

23. You had two winter breaks in one year.

We got called off when it snowed, and even when it was too cold. Winter break 2.0 happened every year after the actual winter break.

24. The parking lot was no joke.

It was scary. Enough said.

25. "And as always..."

If you went to West, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

26. As exciting as the thought of life after high school was, graduation day was bittersweet.

Lakota West will always be your second home in little ole' West Chester and you could fill a book with all the memories that crazy school gave you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
