Music majors spend the majority of their time in classrooms, practice rooms, and auditoriums. Any free time we get is usually dedicated to necessary things such as eating, napping, doing laundry, and showering. But even in these rare moments that we aren't doing musical things, we're inevitably thinking about musical things. So yes, while we're often found singing or playing, there are some thoughts all music majors have in that precious shower time.
1. I should be practicing right now.
Thanks, Yoda. But I'll probably fail anyway.
2. I gotta remember to look up what "free time" means in the dictionary.
3. So glad I only have to deal with six classes, four ensembles, three extracurriculars, and 572 recitals this semester!!
4. Can't wait to spend my entire evening doing that thing for that class that I'm getting zero credits for...
5. There better be free food at the recital tonight.
6. I should be practicing right now.
7. I wish I could replace all the Neapolitan chords in my life with Neapolitan ice cream. Much more productive.
Same, Michelle. Same
8. That's it. I'm dropping out of school and fulfilling my lifelong dream of forming a band called the Bach Street Boys.
9. Dang, I really need to make a Liszt of all my hilarious classical music puns.
I'll be Bach with more of those later.
10. Or maybe I should start that 200 chord Schubert analysis due tomorrow morning...
Mozart wrote the overture to Don Giovanni the night before it premiered so I'm golden, right??
11. I should be practicing right now.
12. I should also probably let my roommate know I'm still alive.
13. The acoustics in here are bomb.
14. If I get soap in my eye, do I have to go to ear training today?
15. If I cut myself shaving, do I have to go to ear training today?
16. Do I have to go to ear training today?
17. Are three semesters of music hell - I mean history - really necessary?
18. If I have to answer the question "what is music?" one more time...
19. Because do re mi fa so done with this semester
20. Crap, I think I forgot to sleep last night.
21. How can I box up some of this water so I can save it for when I'm living on the streets in five years?
22. Why isn't "How To Be Poor 101" a degree requirement?
23. Should I schedule today's existential crisis before or after my daily practice room cry?
That's it! I'm not going.
