25 Things I Would Rather Someone Text Me Than 'Hey'

Social media makes us pretty anti social, don't you think?

We live in this generation where, unfortunately, we communicate more via social media than face to face. I don't know about you but I get so bored with texting. "Hey." "Hey." "What's up?" "Nm, u?"

ALRIGHT. ENOUGH. Do we not know how to really converse with people anymore? Come on, you guys, this is a skill we learned in seventh grade English class. Don't tell me that when you took a foreign language that you didn't have to learn more than one way to say "Hi" to someone?

We as a generation need to be more social and not only that, but we need to work on being creative when we are being social. When you see someone wearing an interesting shirt that fascinates you, ask them about it. If you see someone having a rough day in the halls and you know you're friends with them on Facebook, send them a message or toss them a like, it'll show that you're interested in more than just the basic "Hey, what's up?" convo everyone else in our generation is having. Basic, right?

Stuck on what to ask or what to say to people that you want to converse with? Literally, just ask something simple. But, in case you're not that creative, here's a couple of things I know I would rather be talking about than just opening a text that says "sup."

1. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why?

2. If you could drop everything and go anywhere right now, where would you go?

3. Who do you think has had the biggest influence on you?

4. Who is the one person in the world that knows you best?

5. What is your favorite quality about yourself?

6. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

7. What is your favorite non-physical attribute about yourself?

8. What was your favorite movie as a kid?

9. Have you ever been in love?

10. What makes you fall in love with someone?

11. What is something you are deathly afraid of in life?

12. If you were president/king/queen of wherever, what would you do as a ruler?

13. What stresses you out?

14. How are you after the incident?

15. What is one thing you emulate about someone?

16. What is something you've never done but always have wanted to do?

17. What do you think is holding you back in life from living your ultimate dreams?

18. If money didn't matter, what would your dream job be?

19. If your boss gave you a week off, what would you do?

20. What was the last thing that made you cry?

21. What was the las thing that made you laugh?

22. What is the craziest thing you have done in your life so far?

23. Are you a dog person or a cat person?

24. What's one thing you would say sets you apart from everyone else in the world?

25. What is one thing you feel your life is missing?

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
